The CEO will often have a position on the board, and in some cases is even the chair.” Whenever I worked for RGS Electric this summer by boss was all the upper level management rolled into one. He was in charge of hiring, coordinating, scheduling, planning, team development, and even pay roll. He had a lot of duties that he needed to manage, which was very tough on his in a business where he is the only man in charge. Even though he had a lot of responsibilities on his plate, this man really played a positive influence on my development as an employee in a professional envioronment. He taught me the proper way to deal with un happy customers, and helped me to see the importance of working together as a unit to achieve a job at hand. He managed all of his responsibilities with the up most professionalism and showed me how to be a true manager.         When looking at then organizational structure, there as not much of a structure to be followed. Each task was performed by the same task group who had a specific job to accomplish at the end of each work day. This could sometimes tend to lead to a little bit of boredom and slow working conditions at our work site. Our employer did his best to try and generate morale between the employees but some days he found this to be very difficult. Some of the older employees witnessed what is known as workers apathy. After the first couple days of the week, workers began to just go through the motions and not try as hard as they may have at the beginning of the week. Only showing up so they could complete another day and get another paycheck on the following Wednesday. Making it extremely difficult to work at a high rate and finish assignments on time. “Employee apathy is often overlooked since those who exhibit this characteristic tend to fly under the radar, which is exactly their goal: to get paid, not bother with anyone unless necessary and not have anyone bother them.” (5 Effective) This was due to RGS not implementing a certain strategy they wanted to take to achieve a certain goal, there were no goal oriented task, no gratification for completion of jobs, and no morale being generated by excited workers such as myself.         As far as evaluating my boss at RGS electric, he was lacking in certain leadership qualities that could have propelled him from a good leader to a great leader, he was very temperamental with his employees and seemed to lose his cool very quickly when things did not go his way. Being a part time employee and knowing this man since I was much younger, I was not subject to the random outburst of anger or disappointment he sometimes portrayed this full time employees. He did his best to try and motivate others but he didn’t understand the concept that every person is different and it takes different strategies to motivate certain kinds of people. He would resort to ridicule and embarrassment to try and motivate his workers instead of instilling positive motivation and have positive feedback for his employees whenever they were working properly. I believe that just a few classes or seminars my boss could learn very valuable things that could not only help him grow as a leader but also to grow and expand his very successful but also very small business. His attitude tended to have the ability to lower morale, and lower our willingness to work because he would make us feel inferior to his status in the company. He did not seem to comply with any ethical standards, he would cuss and yell, putting down employees to make them feel low. This took away from his ability to lead others throughout the company, people tended to shy away from conflict ad their work was effected directly.
