Good Evening Parents, tonight I would like to talk to you about the
importance of volunteering and being involve with your childrens
“education”. And “what our Children have to face today such as crime,
drugs, and violence” something that I did not have to encounter when I
was growing up. Yes there was drugs, they were crimes and there was
violence but there was values, respect, love, guidance, and responsibility
my parents were there to teach me about values, respect, love, guidance,
and responsibility. And for that I have Thank them. Because of them I
learned that in order to keep my own children safe from all that, I had to
do my duty. To Teach Them the way I was Taught. To teach them
about values, respect, love, guide and to be responsible individuals
in order to make it in life.
It is sad that our children are being confronted with all this problems at
such a young age. But it is reality, as parents we have to do our part and
protect our children from all this. It is not easy being a parent now a
days. But yet, we cannot forget that it is our responsibility.
As parents we want what is best for them “what parent doesnt”. It
takes hard work and leadership and believing in yourself. And that is
some of things we need to instill in our children. We can never say later
because later will be to late. Dont forget we are our childrens first
and primary educators, nurturer, and advocates. It is us parents that
have to take the initiative to educate, nurturer, and advocate for our
children. And we have to start now. As our children enter the our
school systems we have to be ready. We have to volunteer and be a part
of their activities, be available for them.
Remember what you learned as a parent in Head Start, you get involve
in your childs everyday activities. You go to every open house, you
ask questions when you dont understand something, dont let anyone
tell you different. Your there to advocate for your child. It is not easy
but we have to make the time and follow though so that they know that
your child is not alone that their is someone to speak out for him/her.
Sometimes, teachers are cruel and they think that the children are alone
and their is no one to advocate for them. Prove them wrong. Be their
dont ever leave them alone. It is not the teachers job to teach them
about values, respect, love, guidance and responsibility it is our job as
parents.
Remember that in the school system you have to go to the office and
sign in and let them know you are going to visit your childs classroom.
NO matter what we have to volunteer and be a part of what is going
on in the schools.
Our children need to know that WE are their to support them and guide
them in the decisions
