When looking into the past and the birth and evolution of The United States of America, one must consider George Washington as a major role player in this countries great history as well as becoming one of the most important men in world history. The nations founding father, George Washington was born in 1732 into a planter family in Virginia. As a youth he quickly learned the morals, etiquette, and manners expected of a Virginian gentleman. Soon he became interested in two fields, military arts or the art of warfare, and western expansion. At a young age Washington saved every scrap of paper he ever laid thought and ink on, and kept them together in chronological order as if he knew he would be a great figure in world history.

Records preserved in our National Archives show a more complete history of a man than any other.
