Patton had a unique ability to speak using profanity in his speeches to put down the enemies and raise the morale of his country. During a normal conversation, he seemed to sprinkle four letter words into what he was saying and the listeners would hardly take notice of it. He spoke so easily and used those words in such a way that it just seemed natural for him to talk that way. His accent also shows a strong personality with the way he talked and spoke in speeches.
U.S. Army officer George Smith Patton was an outstanding practitioner of mobile tank warfare in the European and Mediterranean theatres during World War II. His strict discipline, toughness, and self-sacrifice elicited pride within his ranks. We saw many awards and medals on his uniform showing his accomplishments and successes in missions. He showed a stern image with a black whip and gloves in his hand, ready to discipline anyone who disobeys him. His personality led United States to many victories but also to his downfall. Authorities criticized his methods and this led to his removal from command of the 3rd army in October 1945. He was a natural born leader and it was because of his contributions that the cold war finally ended.
As a man, I can say that a great part of what I look for in subordinates is to keep them down.
It is very unfortunate that this kind of behavior is the norm to which I am subjected when a subordinate is subjected to it.
Unfortunately, during World War II, I saw many of the best leaders of the world and I became increasingly concerned, not only about the dangers to our own lives, but also about what would follow. All throughout my time in the U.S. Army, I had a great concern for other Army leaders, some of whom, many of whom were very experienced as leaders. Most of them were not aware of the dangers of the current situation in the Middle East, which were quite serious. This led to a great concern that they would probably be forced to return to the war or at least make a different effort in the future. Of course, it is true that the threat of war has not vanished quickly, but in recent months the situation has greatly deteriorated and I have seen that I feel that we have to be very careful of our subordinates who we call “rogue subordinates” in the eyes of others.
The leadership of the Army in 1945 is highly important to us because of the extraordinary bravery, sacrifice and loyalty displayed by our soldiers that I witnessed in so many of my missions. We always strive to improve in these efforts and have worked quite closely throughout this war to accomplish this goal. I hope that in future events that I will be able to say that we have done a great deal in many operations and we have achieved a large part of the total success that we dreamed of in that very war period.
For about five or six years we participated in virtually all military operations, from the beginning of the war against the Axis powers to the present on both sides. As a soldier, we performed at a great level those service and sacrifice tests that were part of our training, including all those in the First Corps, as well as those in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Special Forces, and in front of our lines as troops. We were well drilled and trained. We were very aware of such training. The best part was our commitment to our fellow soldiers and to their families and to the United States Service Members. We enjoyed many of our training and enjoyed countless hours of service at the finest military base or other important American military mission in the world. As a soldier, I could not be more proud about my participation. For a part of the past couple of years, I feel that we continue to fulfill these same highest standards and it is with this regret that I wish I could say that my military experience under the leadership of George Smith Patton is of great significance.
