In pages 24-43 of Montana 1948, the author, David, brought up how his Uncle Frank is a child molester. It was hard for everyone to believe; Wesley is in the most denial. (SCO 2) When Frank was doing his checkup on Marie, Marie kept screaming, “No!” until Davids mom entered the room. As soon as she entered, Marie got quite and would not let her leave. Once the checkup was over, Davids mom brought up to Wesley how Frank was a molester. In Gails words she said, “The reason, Wesley, the reason Marie didnt want to be examined by Frank is that he -he hasis youre your brother has molested Indian girls.” She said that he did things to her that was considered rape. David could not believe it at first and wish he had never heard it but he still cant help but over hear the conversation. Gail and Wesley talk to their neighbors Daisy and Len to try and get more information to see if Frank is an actual rapist; they wanted to see if there were other rumors. While the adults are outside talking, David is eavesdropping. (SCO 5) At dinner, Gail could not look at Wesley the same for he was now the brother of a pervert in her eyes. David feels uncomfortable because he is not sure if he is acting properly and he does not giving away that he knows what they are talking about. (SCO 1) Wesley knew that Frank was guilty; however, he does not want to accept it. (SCO 3) Frank believes he needs to do more investigations because he does not like going straight to assumptions without proof. (SCO 4)
