Bias: A Reaction to Bernard Goldberg
After I read the next few chapters of Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News I couldnt help but think what I had thought as I read the first few chapters of the book, this entire book seems to be the author ranting and raving making accusations and points without any real documentation or citation of real sources. He went into speaking about further ideas regarding the liberal media distorting actual news and as a result impacting society negatively but the two examples he uses that I am going to comment on are his thoughts and opinions he expresses when he is talking about working moms and terrorism in chapters 11 and 14 respectively.

Goldberg starts off his ideas regarding working moms by saying that the way media has covered day care leads one to believe that women need day care in their lives because they need to work during the day to make ends meet for the family and to make sure that the family has sufficient money to survive. In his opinion however, which happens to follow his statement regarding how media has covered the issue, many women work not because they need to but because they would rather live their life at arrange things that way. He then goes on to cite specific people who strengthen his theory but in a way that allows no real legitimate fact, only mere opinion, which is my biggest problem with the book. He uses other peoples opinions to strengthen his own opinions. I cant say I dont agree with him saying that perhaps the child is better off with the mother as opposed to day care, but to me thats a completely obvious statement and not one that can strengthen any argument. His argument in this chapter revolves around this idea that liberal media covers day care in a way that suggests their facilities need to be better because their existence is crucial to society when in reality mothers really dont need to be out working. His ideas are all a stretch and contain no real factual backing. He takes his approach to attacking liberal media through the use of opinion to talking about terrorism and how it is covered in liberal media.

As I continued reading and made it to chapter 14 I realized that everything that is/was/or will be covered in the news is something that Goldberg was going to address because I never thought that terrorism would be something he would use to support his thoughts. I did agree with some of his ideas so before I go into addressing what I thought to be nothing more than what he claims liberal media to be doing (reporting with opinion), let me first talk about them. He went into talking about how liberal
