Current Event
Four French journalists, Edouard Elias, Didier François, Nicolas Henin and Pierre Torres were recently released from Syria since last June. They went to Syria as an assignment and were captured at different times. Two were capture in the beginning of June when they were in Aleppo researching and photographing for a magazine called Europe 1. The other two were imprisoned later in June while working on assignments for a magazine and TV show. The people of France were excited and happy to have them back. Syria is now recognized at the worst play for journalist due to the amount of deaths and imprisonments.

This event is impacts Europe politically, socially, and economically. Politically, this shows that leaders in Europe cannot trust Syria. Government officials from other countries could meet and prepare laws that could deal with journalists in certain countries to prevent deaths from happening. Socially, this shows how dedicated journalists are just to inform the rest of Europe. Journalists are willing to go to any limit to get the information. Economically, more people could realize the struggle to gather current information so they could look at the news as precious and buy more. Newspaper and magazine owners could bump up the prices of their products due to the risks their journalists take which help the economy.

This article was very surprising to me. I was unaware of the amount of journalists that are put in prison and are even killed. That is sacrifice and the journalists should be respected. I wish the article expend more of how they were captured and what they were actually looking for. Why is it that Syria is the worst place for journalists? What do they have to hide? Overall, I liked this article because it was very informing that kept me interested throughout the whole article.
