Micro Assignment 1
History 110 Fall 2014Instructor: Frank Nobiletti16/10/2014First depth segment: Why few women are leading America’s newsroomsURL: Dallas nurse with Ebola being transferred to new location1/ The segment is clear and informative. It said the first nurse who infected with Ebola named Nina Pham, a Vietnamese-American. She is 26 years old and living in Dallas, Texas. She was infected with the deadly virus after caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, the first patient was diagnosed with Ebola in the United States. This is the first time I hear about that, I only heard about a Spanish nurse infected with Ebola.2/ The segment starts with the introduction about the background of the patient and her transferring “Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins says 26-year-old Nina Pham will be taken Thursday from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.” The status of Nina Pham showed a high risk that health workers face when caring for patients with Ebola. This also proves there should be stronger measures to prevent, if not Ebola will spread quickly and endanger more people3/ I want to know more about the status of Nina Pham. I hope she can win Ebola.4/ The segment reminds me about the fighting spirit to gain their rights of women in the late 19th early 20th century because Nina Pham also has the fighting spirit. Her father said “Shes doing fine. Her spirits are good.” She is brave and willing to fight.Second depth segment: Russia, China sign natural gas deal, cementing friendshipURL:

1/ The segment is not long but clear and enough to know. It covers the main ideas of the protests of in Hong Kong people to demand democratic rights from China. It let us know people in the world always ready to fight for their democratic rights.2/ The segment does not describe carefully the situation of the protest but mention clearly the reason of the protest and the opinions of people in Hong Kong to Chinese government. Whether police used force or tear gas, they still maintain their stance. “I want to let my girl to see now they were here. We are to fight for freedom”, a Hong Kong woman said. I think the protest is right and necessary for now because if people in Hong Kong did not speak up, Chinese government would continue to limit  their democratic right. Communism should be stop in the world.3/ I want to know whether this demonstrating bring the expected results for people in Hong Kong or not. I want to know Chinese government would compromise with people to stop protesting or continue to use repressive force. I also want to know the influence of the demonstration to future of Hong Kong – the largest city of the world economy. 4/ I think the demonstrating has a few similarities with civil war in the late 19th century, because Hong Kong people was basically Chinese. Because Britain had ruled Hong Kong by democratic so they have the different views from Chinese. I think if they continue to persevere with their views, they can win because so many countries around the world to support them. Governments in other countries should make greater efforts to help them.
