The author’s diction in the poem is extremely controlling, the most affective words are the smaller and more unnoticeable words. We will be talking about: the Diction and Structure he used. We are going to be comparing it to another childhood poem and also looking into why he wrote it in the first place.

The poem in the poem is a self-effacing poem of a very difficult childhood. Like any poet, Rudyard makes his own choices, he does not always follow an established path, his actions change in a weird and unpredictable way, he becomes quite confused and even a little fearful because he is constantly getting into trouble. The poem has a very strong sense of place and some very interesting words in there such as “He’s a real person here, this man can be you again…”.

What he uses in this poem is very unique, his vocabulary is very precise, its use is very concise in a way to not only represent things but also to speak about them because it would be very difficult for other people to communicate with him.
