Ch 11 – Closing Case Dimension One
1. Should Hallan come up with some new products or continue to concentrate on hot tubs?
I think Hallan should definitely come up with some new products. It’s clear to see that the housing market crash goes hand in hand with the drop in Dimension One’s financial statements. The company tried to make an alternative tub that was more appealing and less expensive but the results were not enough to bring them back and ultimately caused the company to shut down. I think the numbers speak for themselves, If I were in his position I would look for new products.
2. If new products are the answer, what would they be?
Depending on the type of thermoforming machine Hallan has, he can make other molds for the food and retail industry. An example of some of these could be molds for containers, lids, cups, accessories etc. He could also try and pick up a government contract and make the plastic for hospitals, military bases, and other government buildings in his area. This would be the best move because hes getting paid by the government, and that almost ensures a steady stream in revenue.
3. What are your recommendations to revive Dimension One?
The first thing I would focus on if I was hallan would be finding what other products my thermomolding machines canmake. After that, I search for a specific niche in the plastic molding industry that Dimension One could fit into. I would also research and find the one plastic molded product that is in the highest demand. I would then try to compete by producing a similar product that is of higher quality or less expensive to the consumer.
