Toastbox is a subsidiary of the Breadtalk Group Limited. Breadtalk as the parent company was listed in the Singapore Exchange (SGX) on the 6th of March 2003.

The first Toastbox outlet in Singapore was opened in Food Republic Wisma Atria as a food stall unit in December 2005. The concept of Toastbox was introduced by Katherine Quek, wife of Breadtalk founder Dr. George Quek to capitalize on the coffee and toast demand in Singapore.

As of Financial Year 2011, the total revenue of the Breadtalk Group amounted to $365.9 million and a profit before tax amounting to $17.1 million, a marked increase from FY 2010 with a revenue of $302.9 million and profit before tax of 16.7 million, continuing a trend of steady growth since the formation of the group, except for FY2003 with a marked decrease in revenue due to the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak in singapore.

Toastbox is categorized together with Breadtalk as the Bakery business segment in the Breadtalk Group Limited financial statements. As of FY2011, the bakery segment contributed a total of 53.2% to the groups total revenue, an 8% increase from FY2010 at 45.2% (Appendix A).

Over the years more Toastbox outlets have been opened in strategic locations throughout Singapore to cover all regions in Singapore due to their aggressive expansion. Within 3 years of its establishment Toastbox had increased the number of outlets in Singapore to 20 and result, as of FY2011 there are 40 Toastbox outlets throughout Singapore (Entrepreneur Philippines, 2011).

Also, as of FY2011 Toastbox has expanded to 7 countries including Malaysia, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Taiwan.
