Ethical issues are presented every day. Ethical issues forces one to make the best decision for each party involved. In the workplace management down to the employees on the front line have to incorporate ethical decision making. In the stimulation presented in the ethics game, students were placed in two realistic scenarios, in which one had to look at each side of the issue. The decisions that one makes when placed in ethical dilemmas are critical because the outcome came have a drastic effect on individuals involved if not taken seriously.

In the Mysterious Roses an employee by the name of Gail requested a confidential meeting with the boss. In the scenario Gail had been begun to receive roses, and an employee by the name of Bill was around each time the roses were delivered. The ethical issues arose when deciding what to do about Gail requesting a meeting. If Gail wanted to talk about something that involved harassment, the boss had to see if this was an issue that she was able to keep to herself, or if Gail understood that based on what she wanted to speak about the boss may have to involve another party.

The outcome of the situation could include additional stakeholders; therefore the first thing to consider was the people involved. In any corporation there are certain duties that are owed to the stakeholder. The manager has to make sure that the reputation of the company in not in jeopardy, and make sure that there is minimum liability. As a manager one has to also ensure that employees are comfortable in his or her work environment, and have the necessary tools to protect themselves in the workplace. Ultimately the decision to use the rights/responsibility lens was chosen. In the process as a manager, one has to be available for employees, and ensure that there is trust in the office. Gail had the right to request a meeting with the manager. The manager could not assume that Gail wanted to speak with her relating to something on the job. As a manager looking at all perspectives, one has to be able to look at the outcome from different views. If the manager was to assume that Bill was sending roses, that could be criminating, and unjust to bill. Ensuring that employees have the necessary tools to stay safe in the workplace allows Gail to know the proper procedures if harassment is involved so that she can take appropriate action. The management encourages Gail to read up on the company handbook before the conversation; however also lets Gail know that a personal matter will be kept confidential.

In the scenario about the Case of the Cold Feet, a VP of G-Bio sport is faced with an ethical dilemma when she finds that results from a study may have been altered. As the VP the underlying issue is what to do when one believes that a colleague has falsified data in a report that involved the reputation of several stakeholders.
