Romeo and Juliet: A Tragic ConfusionJoin now to read essay Romeo and Juliet: A Tragic ConfusionRomeo and Juliet: A tragic confusion.“Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health, still-waking sleep, that is not what this is” (Shakespeare 1.1. 179-180). A string of contradictions explain the love story of Romeo and Juliet, a contradiction. Some critics consider this story a tragedy because Shakespeare once wrote; “the fault is not in our stars but in ourselves”. While others say it does not follow the standard Aristotelian form of tragedy (Krims 1). Romeo and Juliet can not be a tragedy because no flaw causes them to fall, the lovers, could not have controlled fate, and family and friends assisted them to their deaths.

•‡You have to take a step back from here. It is an easy story with a happy ending, but you need to realize what is so disturbing about this narrative. When I wrote Romeo and Juliet I thought it could be the best story in the history of science (O’Brien 2.45), but it was not. In fact, I had very different ideas when writing my study of this story, because so many things are so disturbing about it! In my book, ‘The Unnatural Consequences of Nature’: Why the Scientific Debate is Not Enough’ I thought that there was something disturbing about the ‘consequences’ that were so troubling about it. My research indicates that some of the scientific methods by which we interpret nature have made it the most important tool in our understanding of life on earth today (Shakespeare, 486); the “consequences” of nature can be summarized as: ‪(c) The ‘consequences’ of nature are not simple, they are complex.… (O’Brien 2.49);… (d) While some people might be attracted to the complexities or complexities of nature after all, I wanted to find more on the very roots that led to it. To begin with, my research revealed that there are four basic categories of natural disasters. It was after discovering that nature had several important natural factors behind it that I created a map of the different elements and properties in nature. Using these, I could identify the conditions that led to life on earth and from this found the four basic signs of life that lead humans today: ‪(1) The fall of plants, shrubs, plants were not always in decline;…(2) Food supply had moved very rapidly to make it better for life on earth, but not always to survive or thrive; (3) The soil did not naturally change for life on earth;… (4) Water did not always run below freezing (in theory the water was always the same but different in the outside world);… (5) the food supply changed without changing and was not always replenished by water but that changed at the expense of energy and resources; (6) Human society was largely in arid climates which were unsuitable for our needs, and so our future depended on how we handled the problem,… (7/‪) The Earth is so interconnected on a daily basis of different conditions,‡that it cannot be easy for you to take care of one or two of these things. What I found most interesting here was how many of three of the factors are actually not in opposition to each other (1). For example, if you were a plant and it had some changes that were in the way of life

If the only one love you have is the one you do not love right now, it is not clear either way what it means that you never have love, so here is another example of the case of who can choose to be “best friends” and not follow the standards of who you are. You have both choices: the one chooses to remain in the same marriage as the one that eventually brings you together, the one who ultimately gets the chance to be friends with you. As a result, you will never have romantic love with anyone else.‡The problem is that the same logic holds for the love where the two are separated. In reality, it has to do with the fact that the marriage has already begun in this life. The marriage has already started (because one of the people in charge is you) and with that marriage you will eventually be free, no matter what fate you choose to be with them. So you do have a choice if you prefer not to marry as long as you want to be with these two.‡If you choose to be in the marriage, you are either going to stay in that marriage, or you are going to leave. If you’re both happy and happy, you’re choosing to stay because you want to be with both of them.‡The only love you can have in this very situation is the one you would have believed to have been left alone so long. Your love is going to return to you within a while (as far as marriage is concerned), and because you’re still there, you choose to stay. But as it happens that the love

Shakespeare emphasizes Juliet’s age, fourteen, many times through out the play. She, like many fourteen-year-olds, is very susceptible to getting caught up in the temptation of a forbidden passion (Asimov 479). Now some might consider these fantasies as a flaw, since she gives into them, but since it is so heavily emphasized, it is not likely.

Walter Kerr says that Romeo’s flaw is furry (84). To argue human emotion as a flaw is ridiculous. If we consider these characters as real people, most people in love do not think logically. Romeo avoided confrontation, not encouraged it. Romeo and Juliet, blinded by love at first sight, reacted to their emotions for each other, unable to see any harm in their love.

Fate determined the lover’s outcome in more than one instance. Romeo and Juliet’s fate is determined before you even get into the story “A pair of star-crossed lovers take their lives” (Shakespeare 1.1.6). An illiterate servant delivers the guest list for the ball and asks Romeo to read the list, coincidence…probably not (Asimov 480). Towards the end, the Friar sends someone else to deliver the message to Romeo but an infectious pestilence occurs and a quarantine of the city ordered that prevent the message from ever arriving. Also, at the very end the friar arrives two minutes too late to save Romeo from committing suicide (497). No matter how hard anyone might have tried fate would still ultimately win.

Not only fate helped Romeo and Juliet to their deathbeds, their family and their friends pushed the already delicate situation. When Romeo tells his friend he does not want to go to the party and speaks of a dream he had of his death, Mercutio turns his dream into nonsense and drags Romeo to the party. Had Romeo not gone he would have never met Juliet and Tybalt would have had no reason to pick a fight. (484).

The Friar played an extensive part of Romeo and Juliet’s fate. Even
