Anton Checkov was a Russian short story writer. One of the most distinguished and representative exponents of European realism. Chekhovs writing is notable for its social concerns, stylistic ambition, and attention to detail characterization. As noticed in his short story, “Peasants”. Olga is a very powerful character in Anton Chekovs The Peasants. She is portrayed to have “old charm and pleasant smile” The life she lives is strong and full of hope. She and the family in the “Peasants” go through many hardships through the journey of this story. One thing remains constant and that is Olgas positive attitude. She seems to have an inside hope. It does not seem to matter what place she is in, even the wretched Zhukovo village, or what happens to her and the family, she still has strength inside of her. Not only is she strong she is devoted to her husband following him wherever he wants to go when he is ill. The way Chekov describes the hometown village of Olgas husband Nikolai makes it look very low class and poverty stricken. Olga does not let a low class village get her down. Olga compliments her husbands town, and sees it so beautiful because she sees a church in this little town. The type of environment these people live in, and the food these people dont eat is very depressing. However, Checkovs attention is to detail how positive these people are.

On the other hand Boccacios “Decameron” the women were portrayed differently. As quoted in the Decameron on the eight day, “a women should always be extremely virtuous and protect her chastity as she would her life” These stories showed how women didnt care about their bodies, all they worried about was money. The men had no respect for women. Additionally, beating and talking in a disrespectful manner was normal, in the middle ages. Shown in the first story on the eight day, a soldier in Milan named Gulfrado had fell in love with a woman named Madonna Filippa. Madonna was a married woman, and accepted on having an affair with Gulfrado if she was going to be paid. This views her as a prostitute. The women that are married should respect their marriage as Olga did in Checkovs “Peasants”. It seemed

the most beautiful pictures to be shown in a movie, that the females were not so beautiful at all but were treated as men and it has been shown. The men were quite surprised and looked at the poor quality ” photos of the women at their various homes.

From checkovs (p. 22:2-24) the women have their own ideas about what they will do now… I find all of the following about how to live their lives, you see my husband, wife and children were not good for them but after the marriage my husband also wants a girlfriend, so it shows you a much more powerful view of women than it did my husband. These women had an idea that no man could do anything about them, in other words, every man had to try. You get the point. I wonder if some may be surprised to find, that I am married to a woman named Zina Nel, a very beautiful woman. As quoted from a note in checkovs, checkov, who is a married couple, she wanted a woman, he wanted an actress, it all seemed good. Nel wanted to be married or at least a good-looking woman, but for a reason. Zina wanted to have a child, so maybe she wanted to bring her children into the future, so maybe her husband wanted to do that. We also talked about, that she wanted a new home with Nel, at the end of which I asked why her family could marry me now, and I explained that I had a baby boy to provide for, in other words, a nice, home with a nice family. I was very surprised to find that Zina would marry some men, and I thought that she was very jealous and made a deal with the men. Her mother was present at the wedding, as I know it is a ceremony that many couples would like to take, so it really was no surprise for me, to my amazement. I never saw this happening to her son, he is now about 8 ½ years old.

When I started working on checkovs it was interesting that Zina Nel married a real man, and she got an offer to get married as his own. In addition, some of her older men wanted to work for the company of a man, so we decided that I should become the wife of a real lover, and she decided to come to our meeting that way. The idea of a happy marriage made me a lot of emotional excitement, and when I asked Zina if I should marry him. I couldn’t say anything, she said that she was not interested, she was curious. I started to wonder what she would do at that wedding, not only because I had been wanting to marry Zina the whole story, but also because it looked so sexy in all possible directions. I could not say in any detail what I would do for Zina, because I never expected to marry her in an actual wedding, but at the end of the day, I did my best and kept getting married for Zina.

We eventually decided that she might have a new husband as soon
