Rationale:In this particular task, I will demonstrate my further understanding of the unit “Gender and Sexuality” through the combination of creative writing and my knowledge from the course. This task is related to part 1 language in cultural context. Specifically, I have chosen to create a blog entry written from a perspective of Japanese workwoman. By creating a blog from workwoman’s perspective, which includes the conflicting thoughts about the gender inequality in the society, it enables me to express the key ideas that we explored and discussed in this unit. In this task, I will be first commenting on the sexual harassment in the news and then move on to what can cause to create those harassments. Then as an example, I will introduce two movies that convey contrasting messages about gender. Through this, I will be able to show the development of gender inequality through media and also how it creates a stereotypical view on each gender. The context in which this task is written is in modern times, specifically when the news about sexual harassment in Japanese parliament was reported. The context is important as my perspective is based on modern times rather than the old times when people used to think gender inequality was usual. The target audience of this piece is anyone that has interest in reading perspectives of gender and also people who has an opinion about view on gender in society.
