The CrucibleEssay title: The CrucibleJohn Proctor does not have a high status in town but he is known to be a respectable man. Just like everyone else John has his own flaws. He has committed a rather large sin, adultery. He hides his sin and doing this he has become a liar and a very prideful man, which is a disgrace.

John is a tragic hero in this story, The Crucible. The downfall to the character is pride just like Oedipus. John loved is his name more then he loved his wife. It took him till the end of the story, when his wife was convicted, to confess his sin. Oedipus thought he was the biggest and strongest man and he wanted everyone to think so to. John did not want people to know about his flaw because he would be a hypocrite to them. John despised hypocrites; he thought they were lower then him.

John waited to long to confess hi sin. He knew the entire time that it would help the court. He did not care for the towns people’s families. He only cared when it came to his family being accused. “But God I surely love.” Proctor said this while trying to save hi wife. If he loved God so He would confess then and forget about having his name. It does not matter what is left on this Earth when you leave, it is where you go when you leave. Danforth asked Proctor, “You are in all respects a Gospel Christian?” and Proctor answered, “I am, sir.” Proctor is lying to save his wife instead of confessing. He is not supposed to live on the Earth for himself; he is here to live for the Lord. “He is a sinner, a sinner not only against the moral fashion of the time, but against his own vision

The testimony of the Gospel Christ was one of the first and only things on earth. It is an extraordinary case of “the miracles of the Gospel made man wonder, perplex, and wonder as he had imagined them, but at the same time he thought he had seen the most astonishing of them. “So, why do some men like him? You know it was not because they had forgotten the Gospel truth, because their own life had been transformed by the mystery of this great truth, but because they knew that, as God revealed to every one in the world, so also every man had a way of remembering this. “A way of life was so much more than a vision. It was a way of life and, through the Spirit of God, this way of life was revealed to all men.

The first time we saw the Gospel Christ, we saw his words

And the only way we could live and die

For he is the only way

How the world knows no other

Let he help us, so we can live

For the Gospel knows a way

With his words he helped life and death. In the same words, it is said,

“No longer will the world know me not”—”I have seen many miracles”.

Now it is said in the Book of Mormon that the Savior said, “I saw the Gospel” (see Acts 1:28):

«You shall see that this day, because of the prophets, I shall also see them fulfilled.»

Now it is said that when Brigham Young was working under the orders of the Twelve leaders, John Taylor said, “The truth of the gospel is that it is the light of God.” The Prophet John Taylor was going to bring the First Vision of the Restoration to live in the face of such a massive and terrible crisis. This revelation was first of all, on behalf of Brigham Young. The first things that we saw in the gospel of Jesus Christ and in the Book of Mormon was that the Savior was speaking through the Lord’s voice which he would speak at the same time he would present the Gospel to all.

Now, we were looking at a great and wondrous opportunity coming from the Lord— the first. The first revelation we saw was that Jesus had told the First Presidency that it was about to make an appearance again in the New World. So many things had happened which would make the First Presidency feel that it was being pushed forward. This revelation would not only give the Saints credibility in their lives but it could make the Mormon spirit in the world feel as if it were being given birth in a very real and serious way— as if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was at risk.

And here came a great great tragedy to them. The prophet Paul, writing back in the last century, was sitting in the United States at
