Environmentalists
Introduction:
As you know, there is a zoning issue around the Econ River that should be dealt with. We, as environmentalists, strongly believe that the Econ River should be preserved and protected from development. The area that makes up and surrounds the Econ River supports a wide variety of natural resources and endangered animal species. Elected officials should be fair in making in the zoning decision process and not be influenced by big development firms. In addition to that, the zoning decision should be based of scientific and biological facts.

Body:
There are a lot of rare and endangered species in the area of the Econ River, and approving the zoning of this area would make all of these species disappear. The forest surrounding the Econ River is a unique wilderness opportunity for people to enjoy and it is one of the natural resources that actually purify the air. Knowing there is a high school and a university, near the Econ River that use this later as an outdoor learning destination, the zoning would take away the only research chance these students have. Water is a luxury that most of us take for granted. The zoning process in the Econ River would degrade its water instead of preserving it.

It is obvious that elected officials are driven by expanding the state growth during their mandate. To achieve such an objective, of course they are going to adapt a zoning application. Allowing for zoning of course will generate a new land that can be exploited for building new neighborhood, and more precisely give more incentives to new investors to get installed and start running their businesses. No one denies the importance of an economic development at the time of crisis, but what the politicians forget is that this process can never take place on a land that used to be an important surface water resource and escape to nature within few minutes from the downtown area. The area provides physiological needs that are the basis for Maslows hierarchy of needs. Before the human nation achieves an economic growth, it has to guarantee for itself minimum conditions that can provide it with air, water, and an escape from the stressing world we are living in.

The project is going to be built on an area that contains a unique biodiversity. Many species that enrich our ecological patrimonial is going to be lost, and then, private the future generation of a part of this patrimonial. Even if only a part of this reserve is going to be used, the human activity will surely impact the growth of this species and then put it in danger.

On the other hand, this part of the reserve helps to clean air from pollution that the city implies from its activities. In fact, the trees are the lungs of our city and then if we take it off, the air quality of our city is going to be worst
