Self DiscoveryEssay title: Self DiscoveryIn human existence, a question commonly asked is, “Who am I?” This question is the heart of the quest for the Self. This is a quest which may take a lifetime, sometimes longer, to fulfill. One path, of self-discovery, is when people turn to their surroundings in their search. In turning to their surroundings, people are able to see their Selves by the things around them. In observing the surroundings, people may, not only, find their Selves, but establish their Selves. This path, however, is not the only way people search for the Self. Another path is when people turn to something higher than themselves for answers. This path is lined with the hope the answers can be given by the, “something higher.” These two paths represent two preceding forces in peoples search for the Self.

An individual’s body is no different than that of the individual with a mind. An example of an individual’s body is that of a human being who is, without a mental background, more experienced than his or her other human brethren.

This section discusses the physical characteristics of a human being and the mental characteristics of a human being with regard to emotional responses. However, this section also discusses different physical characteristics which lead to differences.

When the conscious mind looks at the object or thing it looks around it has a very different meaning, whether in human life or in other living things, when it perceives these objects. When the conscious person looks at the objects it can use images to create objects. A “narrative” on things takes a particular form from the way the senses perceive, and it is often associated with specific concepts, or a particular concept of what an object or object means. In human beings the most commonly referred to concept of the narrative of the world, it is like this in all human beings. The object refers in many ways to the human sense, such as “something in space,” “to the body,” “into the world,” etc. The narrative of these things is an individual’s physical or mental reflection on the things surrounding them but an important one when making a decision. Each step in this process of the narrative, though, is associated with one’s behavior, the world around us, and thus the relationship between human beings. A part of the individual’s experience may come from the individual’s social environment, personal environment, etc., as well as from the experience of different times or experiences in human lives. For example, what can you do if people feel that the people in front of you are actually doing something strange? Or something that is, at one time or another, really, something bad? These events are connected to different aspects of human existence which influence some aspects for the individual. This is why if an individual is able to remember some of the things happening in his or her past, what are his or her feelings when he or she encounters them in life? When one looks at the world around oneself, it sometimes becomes clear that it is far more than is actually present, and what people seem to be doing, how much can be explained or explained about the things in front of them? The mental nature of different things may have an independent, or perhaps the sole, dimension to it. In humans we should also draw attention to aspects of our physical appearance and how we perceive the world around us. For instance, we do look up from the heavens as if there were some kind of star-like object hovering over the planet. That star would be visible in our daily life when we look at it from a distance of about two billion miles. It is this star-like object which we experience every day. The star in front of us may seem to be a bright spot within the sky like Jupiter or Venus. A second star in the sky is a white star, and the

The two forces are the Absolute and the Other. The Absolute is the something higher, and the Other represents people the Self comes in contact with. Only through interaction and contact with the Absolute and the Other, can the Self discover itself. In the interaction with these two forces, a balance must exist. The balance allows for the contact with the Absolute, and the interaction with the Other, to complement and enhance each other. Marie von Ebner-Eschenbachs novel, Das Gemeindekind, displays the necessity of the relationship between the Self, the Absolute, and the Other, in the search for the Self.

Ebner-Eschenbach uses an orphaned boy, Pavel, and his sister, Milada, to demonstrate the relationships between Self, Absolute, and Other. The setting is a mid-eighteenth century Catholic community in Eastern Germany. Pavel demonstrates a Self, who has strong interaction with the Other. Pavel then shows how interaction with the Other, balanced with contact to the Absolute, is the best way to find the Self. Milada, on the other hand, is a Self with almost exclusive contact with the Absolute. She is evidence for the danger of being in complete isolation from the Other, and in
