Earth Science
The Science of Geology has changed over time because scientists realized that nothing does last forever.  There have been many scientists that have made discoveries to prove how old Earth is.  The theories have changed, and knew revolutions have been proved.  It is interesting to know that there are many factors that contribute figuring out the Earth’s age.    There was a man named Scotsman James Hutton, who was a devoted to learning about science.  He purposed the idea that Earth was created a very long time ago.  It had been established that Earth was created 4004 BC, but in actuality, Hutton believed the Earth was way older than that.  Hutton’s work was published in a book called: Theory of the Earth, in 1795.  Robert Hooke was also another scientist who was involved with figuring out the age of the Earth.  He published a book called: Micrographia.  It has been said that he has not got the credit that he deserves.  He was one of the first people to realize that fossils that resembled.  Dan Niels Steensen found put and recognized the certain places of fossils that are found on and found far inland.  Carl Linnaeus he created a classification system of plants animals.  He thought the earth was completely covered by water at one point, which has receded ever since.  Buffon was a successful scientist, and he thought that the Earth had been formed from a blob of molten material.  He calculated that the Earth must be at least seventy-five thousand years old.  Lastly, John Fourier is known for being a math mathematician.  He came up with a formula that gives the age of Earth to 100 million years.  The Earth would not be able to exist without the sun.  The sun creates heat that is valuable and also light.  At one point the Earth was unfit for life.  It only lasted for a period of time where it was like that.  The Sun has been said is supposed to fizzle out in 20 million years.  These certain discoveries were made by a man named William Thomson.  He poured vast quantities of heat and light that make that make the Earth habitable.  He also made a point that if the sun was made out of coal, that burning in a pure oxygen into the atmosphere, it would only last a few years before turning into cinder.  Since 1905 the age of the oldest known rocks on Earth has been pushed back, to four billion years ago.
