My interest in fitness really steams from my athletic background as a child. I have always been interested in sports and athletics. As a child I all the organized sports- basketball, football, baseball, and roller hockey- as well as playing with my friends and family just for fun. I was extremely active and in excellent shape throughout my early years and into my teens. However, somewhere along the line I lost touch with the importance of being active and in shape. Looking back and understanding what happened to me and my early years gives me an excellent perspective on why I think I could be a very effective personal trainer. Although I did so at an early stage, I have lived the difficulties so many incur with the weight and health throughout their lives.

To be more specific I went from being a very active kid, to very overweight and in very poor health, to becoming very fit in less than 2 years.
My problem began in the sixth grade. At the time, I was 56″ and about 130 pounds. Then suddenly, it seemed without warning, I could not stop eating. I would eat everything in sight, from McDonalds to Burger King, from Taco Bell to KFC- and all that was just what I would have for lunch. In addition, I would be constantly snacking on ice cream, candy bars, cookies, and cakes. By the time I finished ninth grade, less then three years later, I weight over 200 pounds. No longer was I out playing sports. In instead I was sitting at home playing video games, eating, and sleeping. I was now very overweight and I found that I was sick for more than I ever was before. In addition I found that I was constantly self-conscience, I was embarrassed, and had very low self-esteem.

During the summer that followed my ninth grade year, I was vacationing with my family and some friends at the beach. I felt very uncomfortable just taking off my shirt. When I did, I thought that people were staring at me like I was some kind of a freak. I was so embarrassed, that on the way home from our trip, I talk to my parents about how I felt and asked If they would sign me up at “Golds Gym”. I realized that I could no longer live this way and I just had to do something to change my life style.

I signed up at “Golds Gym” the moment I got home and less than 2 years later I welcomed the summer and the chance to go to the beach. After working extremely hard during that period of time
