Growing and Learning in PreschoolEssay Preview: Growing and Learning in PreschoolReport this essayGrowing and Learning in PreschoolEarly childhood education programs are an important foundation for social, emotional and academic skills for all children. Having a successful early childhood education program relies on these things and also teachers who enjoy what they do and advancing their learning. The vision, mission, and philosophy are very important things that need to be considered when developing a high quality early childhood education program.

The philosophy, vision and mission of an early childhood education program are based on current knowledge of early childhood education development. Educators are responsible for supporting the developments of the whole child in all areas of development are considered inter-related and equally important. Also acknowledging that children learn through active, hands-on involvement with their environment, peers, and caring adults. Respect each childs unique interests, experiences, abilities and needs, to be responsive to and appropriate for each child. Children are valued as individuals, as well as part of a group. The program respects and supports the ideals, cultures, and values of families in their task of nurturing children while advocating for children, families, and the early childhood professionals within our programs.

When considering the philosophy, vision and mission of a program there are many things to take into consideration. The first things that come to mind that want to be thought of the nature of learning and the nature of teaching. These are important because depending on the child and teacher they each have their own way of learning new things and also teaching the material. The philosophy of an early childhood education program should be heavily influenced by the knowledge of early childhood education. Knowing the psychological theories that help answer questions regarding how children learn and also the impact of socialization on childs development. The constructivist view sees children interacting with their environment, peers and adults constructing their own intellect.

The proposed vision, philosophy and mission are based on my own core beliefs of early childhood education because without the current knowledge of the theories and development of the whole child concept. Also by having the children learn through active and hands on activities it allows them to really understand what they are doing and not just sitting and listening. A program that respects and supports the different diversity of the families and caregivers also allows for a successful program. Having a program that is high quality and that has teachers that are always advancing their learning will make for an enjoyable early childhood education program; this also provides an important foundation for social, emotional and academic success for all children.
