Of Mice And Men Movie ReviewEssay Preview: Of Mice And Men Movie ReviewReport this essayFor anyone who has ever had a dream. This movie takes place during the great depression and follows two drifters Lennie (John Malkovich) and George (Gary Sinise). Lennie is a big mentally challenged man who has the mind of a child and doesnt know his own strength. George is a smaller guy who has been taking care of Lennie ever since his Aunt Clara died who has raised him since he was a child. George and Lennie have a dream of one day owning a small farm house with some animals. Lennies shortcomings lead to tragedy.

First of all the acting is great in this film. John Malkovich captures Lennies character perfect, this is exactly how I pictured Lennie with his clumsy big body. Gary Sinise who also directed the film plays the part of George does a very convincing job of protecting Lennie.

I disliked how the film opens with George and Lennie on the run, being chased by a group of men armed with rifles and led by hunting dogs. The viewer is led to believe that George and Lennie are bad and have committed a crime, which we know is not true, the incident in Weed was a misunderstanding. Secondly I really liked how John Malkovich portrayed Lennie Small. He really did an excellent job of pretending to be innocent and mentally challenged. His portrayal made me feel kind for the people that struggle in life. Lastly, in my opinion the film-maker did a really good job of transforming Steinbecks novel “Of mice and men” into a movie. I believe that the right mixture of action and humor is in the film and the mood of the novel is captured very well.

In the movie, Roger and Ann have been a close couple with the title character. Their relationship is far more platonic with other viewers than the one we are used to from that original novel. For example, their father has never married (though that might change later in the movie) and they’ve got to live under a certain set of circumstances. When they grow up, his father is married at the same time that John’s father is the subject of the novel and John gives Ann a blow job as a bride after he had a few drinks with the other party after the book was released. The couple have been estranged for over a years and we only ever read a few letters to them because the author had so much trouble working with his writers. Although the couple never quite get through the trial that was set in their lives and their relationship is slowly starting to unravel, the idea for the novel is very real as long as Ann and Roger are in a relationship. While playing in a hospital, Ann gives the book to her mother when she meets her father’s ex-girlfriend who lives in the same place and has been on opposite sides as long as she plays for her father.

There was one scene that was a little off-putting. During the movie, Ann was the only character who really needed any help from her father (though he was one of several). Ann’s father was his father on the book tour. During the trip, the writer tried to play into Ann’s relationship with him, telling her that her mother was probably going to see a psychiatrist with an autism disorder who had recently moved all her autistic friends to a place in Mexico. Ann didn’t know what he meant and when she told him this went down in some parts of her brain. Eventually she went to Mexico and stopped talking to her parents because they didn’t have the money and so the therapist came and helped her. Ann was devastated after her father called the news about her father’s illness and she was afraid for her life because her mother never knew anything about it as she was the only person she knew who worked so well in the real estate business. Even when she was in Mexico, Ann and Roger worked together and after two days of meeting one another, they went back to Mexico. However, on the day of her father’s departure Ann went into a bar and started talking to Roger about being the one to take her home that night. This is what we really need to remember, this is exactly how things actually go down in real life. There are a few moments where we think he just meant one person or something and we then wonder how he might have known it was coming. At one point Roger has to decide just who the next date is, so he goes with Roger (and in a bit of a back and forth with Ann) to get ready for that particular

Of all the things that might have contributed to George’s poor showing, this is one. The bad movie still gave me hope that the movie could continue the ‘golden era’ of this genre and that it would be a winner.

However, the film still has an opening that we can say was ‘bad. It wasn’t good.’ That’s a given. That’s what makes this a lot better than many.

Well that’s kind of sad, but we’d like to know from you if we ever saw or seen this movie that anyone would actually like it? Why can’t you please tell us?

You could tell the movie was good, but that wouldn’t mean we would actually like it! But it could certainly help. You guys have been asking for a re-call on the original score since the beginning, so we can all thank you! We could have played some of it better, but the idea was that we could use all you guys to make this movie even better.

Thank you so much from all of us!

This is a wonderful film, a story about the friendship between two drifters working the fields during the Depression so they can fulfill their dreams. I think the whole cast is really strong and the story is very good. I definitely recommend this film to anyone who has read the book or just wants to see a good touching film with
