Part I: A Definition of “Worldview
A personal definition of “worldview” to me would be “ones view or perspective of the world. In my research of the definition for “worldview” I found the definition in Merriam-Webster states, “the overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world or a collection of beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or group” were similar just worded differently. In the presentation that I viewed “What is “Worldview” several unnamed men gave different perspective of what “worldview” was to them. One gentleman in particular stated that “worldview” is a set of basic assumptions that help you make sense about reality or a set of basic assumptions about reality. (Quoted from the presentation: What is “Worldview”?).

Some examples of “worldview” are “a filter or lens which a person uses to interpret life and the world around them. (Consider, Dr. Lew Weider and Dr. Ben Guttierrez, page 51. They also give the example of a classroom divided into 3 sections and the teacher giving each one student a different color lens, one section with green lens, another section with blue lens, and one section with red lens. The teacher holds up a white sheet of paper then ask each section to identify the color of paper she is holding up. Each section had a different view of what color the paper was based on the color lens they were wearing. (Consider, Dr. Lew Weider and Dr. Ben Gutttierrez, page 51) A second example would be when I was asked in this assignment; what was the definition of “worldview”. I gave what I believed “worldview” was and then my research stated what someone else believed. “Everyone has a worldview”. (Viewed presentation: What is “worldview”)
