In the Doll House the story ends by Nora leaving her husband and her children behind. From Kramer vs. Kramer the story begins how the other one ends by the wife Joanna leaving her husband and son. Although they go about leaving in different ways, they have some of the same reasons. However they go about it in two totally different ways. Their husbands, Ted in Kramer vs. Kramer, and Torvald in A Doll House, are also the same, but different. Maybe the different time when each story was written has something to do with the way the actors behave.

The Leading male role, Torvald from A Doll House, and Ted from Kramer vs. Kramer, have many similarities. Torvald and Ted are both business men, who seem to put their work before anything else. All day and night they are either working or thinking about their work. Both men are very concerned with how they look and how important they are. In the beginning of Kramer vs. Kramer, Ted is saying how he has to look good so he bought a Burberry coat, this is the same with Torvald, he tells Mrs. Linde that she should take up embroidery simply because it looks better. Right there you can see that both men are very worried about how they look. Ted and Torvald had both received promotions at their jobs. When their wives say that they are leaving neither men believe them.
In another example, Nora from A Doll House and Joanna from Kramer vs. Kramer, both women are unhappy in their marriage, and they both leave their husbands. Nora and Joanna are both not allowed to spend money on themselves, their husbands to not spend time with them or their children. Nora has a friend Mrs. Linde who she talks to all the time, just like Joanna, she has Margaret, a friend from the apartment building. In the closing scene of A Doll House and the opening scene of Kramer vs. Kramer, both women leave, saying that they need to
