INTRODUCTION
The Doha Round is the current trade-negotiation round of the World Trade Organization (WTO) which commenced in November 2001 at Doha, Qatar. Its aim is to achieve increased global trade through major reforms in the international trading system. Introduction of lower trade barriers and revising trade rules and dispute settlements are the key points of these talks. They are also aimed at greater political cohesion on account of uncertainties over terrorism and related threats.

The work programme covers about 20 areas of trade. The Round is also known semi-officially as the Doha Development Agenda as a fundamental objective is to improve the trading prospects of developing countries. There has been an impasse over the unfair competition especially in the agricultural imports supported by subsidies. There have been proposals to resolve the issue and also give developing countries special privileges.

OBJECTIVE
Our objective is to study the evolution of Doha Development Round since its introduction in 2001 and analyse the issues addressed by it. We aim to analyse the benefits and limitations of the round and identify its impact on the international trading system.

The study will focus more on the differences that stall the negotiations. The study will try to conclude with a suggestive resolution towards a successful implementation of the reforms.

SCOPE
The study will be limited to an overview of major issues addressed by these trade negotiations and an objective study of the differences that stall the negotiations. The suggestion would be a broader set of compromises or amendments on the part of both the parties involved keeping in mind the greater good of the global economy as a whole.

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

Study the factors that led to the launch of the Doha Round.
Study the developments in the implementation of the Doha Round since 2001.
Study the impact on the international trade, with special reference to developing countries.
Analyse the benefits and limitations of the Doha Round.
List the arguments and counter arguments over the differences.
Study the solutions already suggested.
Devise a summarised version of the suggestions into an agreeable solution.
