The short story I decided to write about was “Dogs Death” written by Robert Frost. This was a sad story about a family loosing there pet dog due to liver problems. The story talked about having this dog since it was puppy. It kind of seemed like this was a stray dog that they came upon. The families took the dog in and nurture it back to life. The dog became a loving family pet and the children loved the dog as well. After the children left school the mother of the children notice that the dog wasnt playing like it use to. She looks for the dog and noticed it lying under the children bed twisted and limped (Clugston 2010). She knew something was wrong and decided to take to dog to the vet. On the way to the vet, the dog tried to bite the owner hand (Clugston 2010). But soon after the, the dog died in her lap. The cause of death was unknown at this point, but later the autopsy revealed that the dog died of a rupture in her liver (Clugston 2010).

Reading this story, I could tell that the setting was in a caring family home. They had small children that cared deeply about their dog. In the beginning the writer wanted the readers to image the dog being a stray. This family took this puppy in and treated it like it was their own. It even talked about how they trained to pup to use the newspaper to wet. By doing that they rewarded the dog with saying “Good Dog”! The story also takes place in a car where the dog died in its owner lap. Arriving to the vet was another scene I can imagine in this story.

The point of view was very sad, and the writer wrote it because he cared for animals. It could have been something anyone can relate to loosing their pet. You can easily get the feeling of this story when you read this story. The writer approached and conveyed the tone to reader as though I was sad (Clugston 2010).

In Frosts image of this story, there was initial feeling of sadness (Clugston 2010).Death is a part of life and reading this short story, this family had to deal with the death of their dog. This family loved this dog very much and it was a part of their family. According to Corry Andersonfennell in Grief over the loss of a faithful companion is real and normal, “it is important to allow yourself to experience it because its the only way to move forward” ( Andersonfennell 2012). After their dog died, this family had to move forward with their lives. The writer knows that life goes on and wanted the readers to get a sense of that feeling while reading this story.

In this short story. I think the author didnt have a wonderful
