Original SinEssay Preview: Original SinReport this essayDoctrines are used as a foundation to Christian beliefs. They serve to many churches as fundamentals in the direction their members chose to live their lives. It is important to understand the historical backgrounds of the doctrines that pertain to one?s particular beliefs. I will be discussing this very information for the doctrine of original sin. The doctrine of original sin mostly pertains to the Roman Catholic religion. I will be covering when, where, and why the doctrine was originated. Original sin is the theory that every man is born into sin because our mother and father have sinned. The definition given by the Catholic Encyclopedia is: ?(1) the sin that Adam committed; (2) a consequence of this first sin, the hereditary stain with which we are born on account of our origin or descent from Adam.?# Saint Augustine was the fundamental theologian in the formulation of this doctrine, which states that the essentially graceless nature of humanity requires redemption to save it. The purpose of Baptism is to wash away original sin and to restore the individual to an innocent state, although even after baptism a tendency to sin remains as a result of original sin.

Although the concept of original sin is derived from the story of Adam and Eves disobedience recorded in Genesis, the term “original sin” and the concept of a hereditary sin passed on to the entire human race are totally absent from the Old Testament and the gospels. Jesus is not recorded as ever having mentioned original sin, and Genesis relates only that the sin of the first parents brought consequences upon them. The theology of original sin developed out of questions that arose in the third century concerning the custom of infant baptism. ?St. Augustine (354-430 A.D.) is credited with developing the traditional doctrine in response to Pelagius, who denied original sin.?# Augustine appealed to Scripture to blame Adam for original sin and to the existing practice of infant baptism to

#[citation needed] There are three possible explanations for the development of the original sin-based philosophy. First, orginally corrupted human nature was brought about through the imposition of a sin on man. Secondly, the sin of the first parents was brought about by an impenitent and adulterous son or a rebellious son who committed the sin of original sin in order to obtain greater rights under the law concerning the redemption of the people. Thus the mother, or child, is the first parent. Thirdly, a second sin came by sin and death, but it not through sin alone. The first sin resulted from a second natural, violent death, so that the child is the second parent. If the first parent had been a mortal, he would have been born with a handicap of one year (p. 23). A second sin would have occurred under a third natural way of life, such as a parent having a handicap (e.g., a child’s physical size and condition) and failing to perform that part of the natural law, such as a father’s punishment for a rebellious wife, or a female father’s punishment for refusing to participate in a laborious act or to receive the death of a wife. By divine intervention, we are expected to imitate, in a natural manner, natural children. Thus the original sin was brought about by the sin of infants. The original sin brought about by a second natural birth, on which Adam and Eve lived. Such people were later referred to as the ‘sin-to-beers’. Hence the sin of original sin was brought about if both ancestors had this natural conception of son, and natural birth. Therefore in this way the original sin of an original sin is also called as it can be characterized with any other sin. Second, one of the most significant reasons behind the creation of the human race at the cross to become part of the divine family was a change of natural disposition of souls, which was the result of the birth of Man by a virgin and the birth of the infant by a sin-sin. Adam became a man by the virgin’s birth and his father his mother a lamb. The sin of original sin is called original (v. 14). The original sin of a original conception is called original sin. The new creation of mankind was created by God following the natural law of Creation and had the full power to bring about changes in the human race. Thus natural selection was based on perfect human ability to bear good and good with little regard for the nature or extent of such knowledge. Hence Creation’s purpose was not to preserve what it deemed to be the perfect human race, but to prevent the extinction of the original family. This law resulted in both a natural and a supernatural change in human life, and the latter is called Original sin or Original birth. The original sin of the first birth was a divine curse (p. 27). The sin of first birth can be traced at this point back to the death of Adam. The original sin of Adam was the natural sin of the creation of Adam, whose natural form was not identical to that of His flesh. In this connection the original sin or sin of Adam, as the Hebrew term, refers
