A psychologist studies the human mind and the behavior of humans. In psychology there are many different fields of study to build a career off of. Psychology is used within large business, industries, and the U.S. Government. Psychologists can be used in health services, like hospitals, clinics, schools, and other private settings. Psychologists use what they know about human behavior to expand their range of work to human and health services, sports, law, and mostly education. Most psychologists know a lot about all types of behaviors and dysfunctions, but usually like to specialize in only one particular area of work.

In order to be an independent licensed clinical or counseling psychologist a doctoral degree is usually required. Psychologists with a PHD can also qualify for a much wider range of teaching, researching, and many different counseling positions in universities. Most alternative, charter, and secondary have a pretty high demand for qualified counselors. Psychologists with a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree work in more a clinical, professional, position or even in a more private setting than others. Receiving a Doctorates Degree is nothing to just take lightly. Earning your Doctorates Degree usually requires around five to seven years of graduate studies and classes. The courses that are required uses extensive research methods, including a computer-based analysis performance class. The main requirement to receive your doctorates degree include about one year of an Internship. On the other hand, a person with a Masters Degree in Psychology can work as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist. These psychologists usually sign big contracts with big industrial and commercial companies to assist the employees. A bachelor’s degree in psychology in psychology qualifies a person to assist psychologists and also other professionals.

Being a psychologist may be one of the broadest careers to pursue, mainly because of all of the fields and subfields that can stem from having a degree in psychology. Jobs can range from being a counselor (jobs range from high school to college universities) a researcher (jobs can range from an industrial research environments or a privately ran research group) a psychologist for a large commercial business that usually has a large number of employees. Psychologists are always needed in hospitals, whether they are being used for the patients or for the nurses, doctors, or assistants. Many child services, such as psychiatrists, are very useful in many situations. They are useful whether they are used when working with mentally challenged children in a Charter Program or guiding abandoned children towards becoming a mentally stable citizen. Perhaps one of the highest paid fields when it comes to psychology is being a psychoanalyst. These psychologists usually deal with celebrities and do work with a single client for a long extended period of time. Most of these psychologists sign a contract with the client for up to millions of dollars.

Contrary to what most people might think about this career, being a psychologist is definitely not and easy thing to take up no matter what level or field you choose to work in. It requires a sharp set of skills, and unlike a majority of other jobs it uses more than just a couple of physical and academic abilities. There are many different “personal skills” needed to make a quality psychologist. If an aspiring psychologist is interested in direct patient care must be emotionally stable, mature, and must be able to effectively deal with not only people but their behaviors or whatever their problem may be.
