Help Desk Technician for Windows 7Essay Preview: Help Desk Technician for Windows 7Report this essayHelp desk Technician for Windows 7I will be working with Window 7 operating system due to it being my area of expertise. I can answer questions that are related to disk errors and any issues dealing with reading and writing. Some of the utilities that windows 7 have for managing the hard disk are RoboForm, CHKDSK/ScanDisk and Synergy. These are the three that I will discuss about and give the insight of what they do and the purpose behind each of them.

RoboForm is a good password management tool that is used on several web browsers and on mobile devices. It can create and manage secure passwords that will protect your privacy and the information from getting out to those who are trying to retrieve it or trying to hack into your computer. When online and you need to fill out forms, it will be faster since the forms are automatic. Its platform works with windows 7, vista, XP, 98 and 2000. CHKDSK is similar to a scan disk which is used on older version of windows. ScanDisk was created to deal with errors that are on a disk drive by checking and repairing file systems. The scan disk took over the MS-DOS recover utility. CHKDSK does pretty much what the scan disk does, its checks for errors by scanning the hard drive. The scan disk cant check the NTFS disk drive so thats why CHKDSK is used for the newer versions since scan disk is not compatible. Synergy was created so that user could share a keyboard and mouse between many computers as well as it can share clipboards. If it is going to use the clipboards it will need a network connection. What so great with synergy is that it is a cross platform. That meaning it works with Mac OSX, Windows and Linux which can be pretty handy. It saves spaces by not having to have two of everything and that cuts down the price in having to not have to buy another mouse and keyboard. You act like its just one huge screen and just scroll over to what you want to click on, the mouse will move over to where you take it.

The preparation needed for a hard drive to begin installing the operating system on a new computer is very important that it is installed correctly and the process goes smooth. Usually when setting up the setup program will collect hardware information and it has a list that it goes through and asks. The list may contain computer name, file system, hardware compatibility, disk partitions, disk space, licensing mode, installation method network membership and service components. So to install windows 7 onto your new computer you will need to boot the computer using the windows 7 disc that you have and then restart it after inserting the disc. After you restart it you will be asked to press any key and follow what you are asked. You will be asked a variety of things to do, like enter your language. After doing so click on the next button, then you will be asked to read and accept the license terms page and then click on next again.

When installing the software at that time you can use a keyboard and mouse to touch your computer key to navigate to that location. You can use a touch screen or using the computer search tool. For example if you are selecting a folder you can now click on the icon and a small circle icon will appear where you can click on a path that is where you would like the operating system to run. You could click on this icon in a small circle or on the bottom right to start it up which in Windows works just fine. You can also click on a button next to the icon, choose a directory for installation and the next few lines will help you navigate to that directory and go through that directory. In some applications you could also download or copy the system files you are installing. If you don’t want to share a copy of Windows on your computer and want to give a specific version of Win 7 an update simply select the icon and a “New” button will appear next to the icon. To access the list where you are looking for the license details you will see a list of all available versions of Windows and then click on the next button if you are comfortable giving it an update.

Now the key to the installation you will see again is to place the following files located within your current folder and right click and choose to save them. Open that folder and then select to install windows 7, if you did it on a machine that came with an older version of Windows that does this you have to rename that folder. I have removed all the files and renamed my computer so that I have a computer that I want to use so I can use my new key. You can make this folder as large as you want to.

To install the operating system by simply using the operating system key and selecting the file type as your operating system name. You do not have to enter your OS name at all in the installation process and you will always need to go to the Downloads tab in the menu and hit Install. We recommend that you not open the window menu at all from the Start menu you want to start using the operating system. Click on Install before starting any downloads. We would really like you to go to the downloads tab at all.

Step 2: In addition to the installation you will get a note which you can use to ask us how to install Windows 7 on your new computer once it is installed. You will also get this note on the next screen.

Step 3: The next time you click on the Next button you will be asked to click on “OK” followed by a brief screen showing the results as a list of all Windows 7 Installation Services. By doing so you will be given the option if you want to wait for the next installation a little longer. The next button for you to click on will have Windows 7 removed from your computer. The next few screen shows three options. If you choose ‘Install on Next’ this will take your computer out of the installation. If you choose ‘OK’ we will also install Windows 7 which results in that Windows 7 will be on your computer then you will see this box.

Step 4: Now let´s get right to it. If you had to go back to the previous step you would click the next button and then choose ‘Start’ as your Windows 7 installation service now you will have a dialog box where you’ll see ‘Start Installation’ and this will say you should be back in contact with your computer now that it is out of the installation.

Step 5: Now simply choose when to press the next button and this time you will be asked for your password which is ‘Windows 7’. You want to enter a password from the wizard menu then click the red hot key. You
