Digital Technology
In what specific ways do you think digital technologies affect interpersonal relationships, for better or worse? That’s a great question, do they make us potentially better or worse? I think digital technologies are a great thing, I hate to say that I’m addicted to my phone, but truth is I’m in love with my phone and all the privileges I have beyond it. It’s like I can rely on it if I’m not too confident about something, especially when I’m trying to prove my point to someone, all I have to do is go on the safari and type in a question and there it is, end of argument. As much as I love my phone and all the updated technology the world has to offer, it makes me go crazy, just to think about how many hours a day we spend behind them instead of being more physically productive and active with other things. I can only imagine how much smarter and outgoing I’d be if I didn’t use technology on a daily basis, but it can work the other way around as well.

After reading the article, How Smartphones Hijack Our Minds, it made me realize how much time I actually do spend on my phone. I always realize that it’s become a problem but I continue to do it over and over again. At the beginning of this article it states in bold letters, “research suggests that as the brain grows dependent on phone technology, the intellect weakens,” and that’s the part that really sunk in. I started questioning myself, how much smarter would I be if I didn’t use technology on a daily basis? I started thinking of all the productive things I could be doing instead of wasting my time scrolling through my twitter feed or watching all the snapchat stories that my friends put up about
