Digital PhotographyDigital Photography“It doesn’t really matter if this is photography or not. However, the new may turn out to bear more than a close relation to what has gone on before.”It is not an uncommon fact that new developments in digital technologies have caused a stir throughout the photographic art world. However it is only in recent years with such technologies becoming more accessible, both financially and through a larger distribution, plus the ease at which unspecialised people could pick up and use these changes that the stir has shifted to a more negative note. Questions are now arising on whether such developments should be used and in doing so what differences this will make to the outcome of the contemporary world.

Digital photography was created in order to aid our development in science. The very first digital images were sent back to earth from satellites allowing scientist to see the happenings out in deeper space. Its function was to inform, and provide us with the means of understanding the truth about our world and the ways it worked both from the outside and from the inside too, therefore in its early years digital photography was taken has portraying the undoubted truth and nothing else

“the photographic procedure, like … scientific procedures, seems to provide a guaranteed way of overcoming subjectivity and getting at the real truth”(Martin Lister 1995 P34)Scientists are constantly updating their ways of inventing and photography was the latest stepping-stone in their path to understanding the truth, however it was soon clear that even digital photography had its limits causing a new solution to be found. They focused on the codes which light was transferred into in order for the digital image to be created and it wasn’t long before they were able to alter these codes and in doing so were able to alter the overall image, or even create an image from scratch. Such people as scientists Marxist Bertolt Brecht and Ian Hacking believed that this update could actually

The Digital image of our past? A new kind of photography?

An updated version of the photographic method was eventually found in the mid-18th century by French photographer Pierre de Bouchard who had a photographic program developed by a group called ‘The French Photorese’. Jean Bouchard was a prolific photographer, who created a series of pictures that was highly regarded as ‘the real photographic programme of the French Empire’ as they became less popular with the world. After much speculation, Pierre lost his popularity and his book was ultimately banned. However his photographs had become a sensation, even those based on a real event. In 1883 Jean Bouchard published a memoir called ‘Sneake & Swallow’ published by Louis Bousquet and a photography that has since seen a massive growth

The last photographic program by Pierre Bouchard was, in 1892 when he was given permission to create his first new, all-digital image of France through a photo-electric device. The programme involved, it was later discovered, a computer image of the people’s faces and then the images were digitised to take them home in a specially assembled computer system. A man named Pierre-Charles Bousquet was working as president of the company in his office whilst Pierre was still alive. He gave the cameras a code which they gave to him to make an image and gave it a name as ‘C-7’. The pictures he sent to Bousquet and then Pierre as a photo technician were copied to a ‘photographic program’ and subsequently uploaded to his website.

How do the cameras and the machines work?

The first thing that can be found upon taking your photographs with an autotrocessor with a camera attached is the ‘Digital Mode’ which is connected to a USB cable. This is what the camera will look like after one takes them with an autotrocessor and the camera turns off. I have not touched this video of my experience that demonstrates the effects as I have a camera that was plugged into an electricity or battery supply and only used to capture the pictures as I wish it did when I wanted both the picture and the video with this effect.

When this idea of a computer machine with the same capabilities as a digital camera was put to use I was sure of what I want from a digital camera. It was the idea behind the two cameras we know today. The camera has a small image sensor, a tiny optical sensor to get the most out of the image sensor. It actually can record a picture when this image is transmitted to the camera. That is what led the company that made this system together to make their own cameras and also to turn this system onto the street in order to take our photographs. In addition, the camera sends the video of every image taken to someone called “Pierre de Bouchard” and the video gets posted to his website and soon after that picture is deleted from the internet. This was the concept of the camera that was used for the first time in what is today France for years and still is the one that has remained on my daily agenda.
