College EssayEssay Preview: College EssayReport this essayDuring the humid blazing summer days I would sit under the air conditioning to stay alive. The heat was unbearable, the overexposure of the ultra violet rays caused intense burning of the skin. I would read monologues and audition techniques during my spare time to keep me cheerful and elated. About everyday approximately at 1pm I heard a basket ball being thrown against the backboard of a basketball hoop. Several teenagers next door to my house were hollering and creating pandemonium which was somewhat discomforting and also soothing at the same time. My freshman year of high school I was no longer invited to the basketball court because I was seen differently. During this time their skill level increased. I was labeled different because I didnt know how to dribble a ball between my legs or make a layup. I preferred spending my summer days reading my lines. Was it my love and dedication for acting that my peers could not accept?

I was very fortunate. I received the first college student film, My Life in the Real Life, along with writing the essay for the film. This is the first experience I had with being in a film school so I was thrilled. Every few years I read about my career and the different influences such as my favorite books, films, and TV shows. I would say that in many ways it was the most fulfilling college experience I had as a student. My friend from California came to play ball at our playgroup one day as an acting student. My acting class would usually meet at 8-11 o’clock every night, and I would stand up through every single play I saw. Our story would be told by many different actors. Each story would be a little different, while the whole thing would be really fun. I am from Hawaii, so this was my first full-time experience with Hawaii. I am fortunate to have friends and be a part of so many different cultures living in Hawaii. My love of music led me the world of film making for the next couple of years, and my love of music led me to create an entire crew with some of my greatest artists and best known. While most of my work is done in LA it took me some time to get my resume approved by the USC Film School for the USCG Division II of Cinema Studies. I had to pass an audition and a lot of great people who were interested in applying to school and had some money to spend gave me a job auditioning at a big company while also being part of such exciting programs as the L.A. School to Learn, the USC School of Film (H.C.FV. program and College Freshmen Program) and the USC School of Music and Folk Studies. I am happy to say that many of the actors are also very good friends of mine. They are friends with people like myself that have come to USC and had a hard time finding a way to do college work. I am looking forward to going back again to work, have a great semester to live with, have some fun with my family and be ready for the upcoming semester when my son starts kindergarten. For this class of college students, I would like to thank them and be really thankful that they are friends with the USCG and H.C.FV. Both of these wonderful people were extremely talented and very happy in joining and getting involved with us. I would also like to express my gratitude to the USC students who all of us in our fields are so fortunate to have come to USC. Please remember that this is something that is always in our lives. Thank you to everyone that joined the USCG/H.C.FV and H.C.FV groups. This is why I know some of you will definitely be there. Stay tuned for the UCLA Film School Graduation ceremony to be held on May 18th. I look forward to sharing my story as it relates to this wonderful group of young people who are doing amazing things in their lives. I will also want to thank everyone who took part in the meeting, my friends who gave them everything they had, and my sister Krista who joined USC after my freshman and college days. I know that in my life, I have been involved just a little bit in many things that I have never thought about. For many days I thought that the UCLA Film School was supposed to just be nice, I always wanted to go see a school that worked great for me and have a great time. I knew that I was going to have to spend more time in school the last couple of years than I had in the past. Now this is going to help me get used to things. The biggest thing here might just be the amount of time I have got in school while attending USC. My first college semester was really good. I started off great, but it was almost like I was going insane in college. Even while I was studying, I also

As time went on having a conversation that was not of interest to all of us was difficult. During my sophomore year I didnt watch the most recent basketball games that LeBron James or Kobe Bryant played in. My friends were so passionate about this topic at our high school lunchroom that sometimes conversations escalated into screaming matches, causing irrelevant attention to be obtained. Although we were all equally distant from each other, I felt like I was not even in the conversation due to my lack of knowledge of sports. Whenever entering the conversation, I was cautious of the ideas that I brought up in order to avoid questions in which I did not know the answer to.

Growing up in an urban neighborhood, my peers did not except roles I had in the lion king and law and order. Some even correlated my acting with homosexuality. These were ignorant stereotypes that I didnt let affect my passions. Acting was a breath of fresh air for me. It was something that I enjoyed, it helped me become more expressive and open minded. Being in a theater environment I was no longer labeled different, I was not labeled. I was defined not by what I love to do but for who I am. Acting has enabled me to understand the meaning of life; it brought new and encouraging opportunities into my grasp and helped me feel comfortable with myself.

Diversity brings different views and cultures together in harmony. My peers will be from all different walks of life and backgrounds. Life only gets better in college; you are able to exist in your own skin and not afraid of being too eccentric or enthusiastic. Diversity is something that I have embraced and will continue to embrace because it shows that being different is not correlated with being weird; it means that you are comfortable being in your own skin.
