Scientific Study of Personalities
Psychologists define personality as an enduring pattern of feeling, behaviors, and thoughts, indigent, and unique to each person. The main goal of psychology is to know what makes each person unique and different. In exploring the development of personalities it is important to understand what theories address the issue of personality and how a personality is developed. An overview of a personality is found in defining how the personality is accomplished by looking into the concept of a personality through theories and characteristics.

Personality trait theories are found in the idea that permanent traits and characteristics are both consistent in personal behavior. Trait theories are a compromise between psychoanalytic theories and behaviorist that are triggers that generate a certain type of behavior (Cervone & Pervin, 2010). Personality is showed through a persons thoughts, feelings, and his or her behaviors. Some personalities are organized, consistent, and have psychological personalities that are influenced by biological needs and wants. Personality is the cause of good or bad behavior actions which have been triggered by environment based factors (McLeod, 2007).

Different techniques are used in personality studies to determine strengths and weaknesses. Some of the techniques are experimental methods, case studies, and self-report methods, and clinical research. Clinical research is the gathered information from patients over the period of their treatment. There are some personality theories which are based on this research even though this is difficult to generalize. Experimental methods are done as a controlled and manipulated way to measure the results. Case studies and self report methods are usually in-depth analysis reports that provide information on each patient and family history. These case studies are interpretations of the observer and are difficult to generalize and measure (McLeod, 2007).

Correlation design is to plan the variable found three different studies: a positive correlation, a negative correlation, and no correlation. Negative A positive correlation is both variables that increase and decrease at the same time. Correlations indicate the amount of how one side increases and the other side decreases. No correlations are the indication of no relationship between the variables. There is no increase or decrease in success or self esteem. There are more possible variables such as relationships, cognitive understanding, and personality (Cherry, 2012). Even though correlation variables show a relationship, they cannot prove that one variable can alter the other, these are the limitations that exist in these studies.

Experimental designs refer to the amount of participation that each group experiments in. Experimental designs allow inferences of cause and affect with even handed procedures. Divided into two
