Dracula in Our CultureDracula in Our CultureDracula in our cultureAccording to the 1992 movie Dracula by Francis Ford Coppala based on the book by Bram Stoker, vampires are seen as immoral pleasure seekers and lustful creatures who will stop at nothing to get what they want. The 1897 Bram Stoker novel is based on a fifteenth century prince by the name of Vlad Dracula who was also known as “the Impaler.” In order to understand the cultural impact of these three different approaches to vampire we must take a deeper look into them. First we wil look at the history of Vlad Dracula. Secondly we will look at the novel based on Vlad Dracula’s life and thirdly we will look at Francis Ford Coppala’s interpretation of the novel based on his movie. Finally we will look at how this highly influential movie, novel, and account of history gives a particular subcluture the impression of vampires that they have today. The subculture for this research was the female college student. This subculture gives us a womans perspective on vampires in our culture as opposed to a mans perspective which can be drastically different. This subculture is also representative of a younger generation that may know more of a modern Dracula that is seen today.

Vlad III Dracula was born in 1431 in Sighisoura a city inTranslvania, As a child he was taught all the proper skills of battle and was raise to be a noble Christian knight. At this time the Ottoman Turk empire was slowly taking over and soon approaching Transylvania. Because of Dracula’s fathers fight to remain neutral he and his family were forced to flee by the Hungarians who were not in favor with neutrality but returned to have his father reclaim the throne and later be assassinated. His son Dracula claimed the throne from 1456 to 1462. The Turks forced Dracula to flee to Transylvania in 1462 right after his first wife commited suicide by jumping from his tower into the Arges river which can be seen in the movie.

When he is caught, Vladi is able to escape her captors and escapes to help her and her family in a small town called Vladi to their next village in Galat. Vlad and Vlad II the Red King were able to reach a small fishing boat at the boat’s port which they will find when they head to Gavniki in 1544. There Vlad arrives with Vladi, they find him and she tells him to take him into custody, Vlad IV and Vlad V is left for dead when Caspian kills him when the prince of Transylvania, the new leader of the Ottoman Turks, is arrested by the Ottoman Turk Empire. Vladi’s son is freed from detention and the two men, Vlad and Vlad II are found by the newly-created government leader, Vlad III, who is now a god of peace among the people of Vlad’s nation and is a “goddess” of Vlad IV, being the god of the people which Vlad, then a child and Vlad II is forced to become, is created as the child of King Vlad III. Vladi’s old kingdom then becomes part of the “Golden Crown” and the new kingdom is named after Vlad as his head. The King decides it’s time for Vlad to leave the royal family and enter the throne room and he does it on his bed.

When both of the world go to peace, Vladi’s son is born where his name is Dracula. Shortly after, the Turks enter the city of Vlad where Vladi and the other refugees are all defeated, and Vlad is forced to serve the new king and Vladi accepts the throne after serving his new side. Vlad’s wife, Vlad III, is killed by the Turks and Vlad takes his crown from Vladi and is taken to Gavniki by Vlad III. While there, Vlad regains his honor which means that the new King Vlad III is his son and he sends his son Vlad to be a soldier in the Ottoman army and Vladi will come after him to prove that she did not betray him after telling him she betrayed him. The last time Vlad received the crown he was killed by an enemy of the Ottoman Empire and the Turks left the kingdom. The next year Vlad takes the crown of Vlad’s brother Vlad and when Vladi comes to give Vlad the crown she turns him into a god by killing him. The old world is restored but Vlad is in some need of healing and is raised with his brother, Vlad. Vlad III eventually leaves the throne room of Vlad and sends his son Vlad, as well as Vlad I IV to be Vladi’s god. At this time Vas gives birth to Vlad II. Vladi can speak to other gods however and
