“If we execute murderers and there is in fact no deterrent effect, we have killed a bunch of murderers. If we fail to execute murderers, and doing so would in fact have deterred other murders, we have allowed the killing of a bunch of innocent victims. I would much rather risk the former. This, to me, is not a tough call,” says John McAdams, a professor from Marquette University. The death penalty is considered by most civilized nations as a cruel and inhuman punishment, but I believe that its needed. The death penalty is the only punishment for violent criminals and murderers. It also expresses societys compassion towards the affected victims of crime. Also, the death penalty prevents the perpetrator from committing new crimes.

The only punishment for violent criminals and murderers is the death penalty. This penalty is not always something that may be desired, but in most cases its needed. Our country needs to have a way to regulate the destructive, and this is one of the ways the United States goes about doing this. Capital punishment should be viewed as one instrument among many in the fight for a more honorable and better world. possible. There is no better way than the death penalty when it comes down to brutal criminals and murderers. Not all countries believe in the death penalty like the U.S. For example, a murderer in Sweden usually gets sentence of 6-18 years in prison. The goal in Sweden is to give the criminal time to rehabilitate and get his life back on track. A lifetime sentence in Sweden isnt even that bad. For a lifetime sentence, a criminal only has to stay in jail for up to 18 years.

Not only that, there will be times when the criminal will be on leave and will be able to participate in rehabilitation. After the criminal gets out, he still has a life ahead of him. I dont believe in this method because the victims family has to live knowing that in short period of time the murderer of their loved one will be getting out. Even when the murderer gets out, he may strike again. As long as a punishment bears no proportion to a crime, the justice is weak and deadly sick in my mind. There is therefore no alternative to the death penalty for the violent criminal and the murderer. Not only should the death penalty be the only punishment for dangerous criminals, it also makes the society feel better because it shows compassion towards the affected victims of crime.
