Oscar WildeEssay Preview: Oscar WildeReport this essayFather CapuletThere are great and important actors in the tragic play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare. One of the most important characters who are the role of the main cause about the death of Juliet is father Capulet; because he was the first person who wanted to force his daughter with marry Paris.

Although Capulet wanted the best for Juliet, he didnt give her the opportunity to make her own choice so he forced her to marry Paris, which caused problems that makes the end tragic and sad with the death of both (Romeo and Juliet). She didnt want to marry someone who she did not love and wanted to escape the marriage. Her method of escape was death in this case. Paris wondered if Juliet would like him and Capulet responded with, “Of my childs love: I think she will be ruled. In all respects by me; nay, more, I doubt it not”. In this quote he was trying to say that his decision is more important than Juliet’s own decision which is the most important because it deals with a marriage including her, so he did not hear the Juliet’s opinion He is pretty sure that his daughter will marry Paris because she loves him, but this is not true.

When Juliet refuses to marry Paris, he shouts, “To go with Paris to Saint Peters Church, Or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither”. Now he makes her agree to go to the church. Although she does agree to, her thought, “Ill to the friar, to know his remedy; if all else fail, I have power to die”. As we can see, the Juliet’s reaction makes us know that everything is nothing without Romeo so she prefers to die before being separated from Romeo. Juliets arrangement to Paris had brought her death because it resulted in the potion plan which had caused Romeo and Juliet to die. If Capulet had never forced Juliet to marry Paris, she would have been living happily with Romeo.

By making Juliet marry Paris, who was not the person who she loved, Capulet also separated her from Romeo, who she did love and it was this separation that ended this love. This contributed to her death because her life wasnt worth living if she couldnt have the only person she loved, and he was the person she lived for. Her expression on how she felt about Romeo before she even knew his name, “Go ask his name. If he be married. My grave is like to be my wedding bed.” It showed that was Love to the first sight so she wanted him and would die if she could not have him. If she felt this way when she just met him, imagine how she felt after she was married to him and then separated from him by her father. She thought about ending her life because now that she had just married Romeo, she couldnt have him.

Another example of how Capulet separate her from Romeo conduced her death is when she begs the Friar for a way to see her Romeo again. Juliet says: “And with this knife Ill help it presently. God joind my heart and Romeos, thou our hands; and ere this hand, by thee to Romeo seald, Shall be the label to another deed.” In her description of
