Inhertitance Essay
Essay title: Inhertitance Essay
Topic: All the characters in ‘ Inheritance ’ believe that being members of the family will protect their interests. In fact, it is ‘ family ’ that destroys them. To what extent do you agree?

Everyone belongs to a family, and it is reasonable for one to believe they have the right to inherit what was in their family’s possession. After one passes on, it is expected that their family will inherit what was left from them. But sometimes it is an unlikely source in family that may destroy you.

In any normal situation, it would be expected that either William or Julia, being the son and daughter of Farley and Dibs would be inheriting the Allandale estate. But this is not the case. Another person that comes into contention is Nugget. Nugget being the son of farley, would have just as much right to the allandale estate as Julia and William if not more as he is still part of the family. Nugget spends many long hard hours on that farm and deserves that farm.

This however does not happen as dibs and William see the will that Farley left before his passing away announcing: “I give my entire remaining estate to my son Neville Hamilton, known as nugget” she rips it up and deny’s what was rightfully left to him by his father. During the play ‘inheritance’, nugget is treated like a brother and a son but that is all changed when dibs is extremely upset and pissed off by Farley’s decision and says to William ‘He’s not family, He’s just not! This is a great example of how Nugget is destroyed by family.

William has not had the greatest father/son relationships with Farley, and has not done anything to contribute towards the Allandale estate but yet, still feels as though he is entitled to it. It is obvious
