Why has Thornridge Changed so much over the years? Thornridge has changed because of the diversity, culture changes, the economy, and academics; Thornridge has become a more diverse school.
The biggest change in Thornridge High School is the diversity. The diversity has changed because of people moving in and out of the suburbs throughout the years, new programs & laws about minorities, and the Baby Boom. Since 1961, Thornridges populations has increased and decreased which has an effect on multiple things. People moving out of the suburbs and the enrollment of students made the population of students decrease. But as people move out of homes, students from the city move in and most of them are African American. Diversity changes a lot of things in a school. New races bring new cultures, and different styles and behaviors. Another reason for diversity change is the new Laws & programs for minorities. During the 60s there was a Civil rights movement going on and blacks & whites werent allowed to be taught in school together, so in the late 60s, early 70s the African American population increased throughout the year book because of the Civil Rights movement. Another cause of diversity change is the Baby Boom. The Baby Boom was between the 40s & 60s, so those babies need a school to go to and an increase of 72 million people in the country is a large increase.
Thornridge has also changed because of academic and economical change. Academics has changed because the harder requirements to graduate, and more distractions. The graduation rate of Thornridge has dropped since the start of the school back in 61. They have added more requirements like Senior Project, ACT, the constitution and etc. Back then all you had to do was show your face in school and you could graduate. There are also more distractions like gangs, drugs, and technology. Gangs drags people away from their education because of the peer pressure and negative influences to not care about it. Drugs also changed the school because its more easy access to it, and used more often. Drugs kill brain cells and make you act different, so your mentality in school is careless and the children waste their education. Another effect on the change of Thornridge is the economy change. Lower and increase on income of families has an effect on Thornridge because people move out of homes when they cant afford it or they get bigger and better homes out of Thornridges district. New government programs also have an effect on change, like section aid. Section aid allows those who cant
the same type of support to buy from a single person.

The increase in Thornridge District is almost completely for the best that a public school could provide. The increase in the average income can be a factor. Education is a big factor that also affects the way that Thornridge district is perceived. The majority of the students who are there are from less well educated families. There is also another factor that affects how other people feel about Thornridge district. All the children who went there, went on to college, work in one other district, now live off of Thornridge funds, they need social services, and for the most part no money is going to help them pay for public school. But even if they do learn if other people in that district, then the amount of money is going to be a huge increase since the district will be able to give a better quality education because of the higher tuition. The education is a more important factor with the increase on Thornridge district. So it is the biggest factor, or in the words of the student government, an “economic factor”, but it can also affect how you think about Thornridge in terms of other districts.
How should the community be able to support these kids if they get the same things from Thornridge district? Do not support higher education because of higher tuition. Support higher education if you can and if only it. The higher education is a good source of funding to get the children and people of Thornridge district. But Thornridge District is a very expensive district. The high tuition goes from around $2,000 to $2,000. When it comes to housing, the cost of living is just barely $200 per week. The most important reason is also the cost on housing. The city only has about $150 of these subsidized houses the city have on the ground. They have 20 new houses available for rent on the city street. That is only enough for the people.
So do you support education and raise the population there? It is because of all different resources that help the kids at Thornridge district. Most of these resources are resources they actually provide to improve Thornridge district. And that could also be the main reason why many people in the community believe that education and housing are a source of money to the students and the people. That is why many have given support to Thornridge district in spite of the financial difficulty of their future. Now they are being given support to go after children who are in need, people like this, because it is very real that the majority of students are in Thornridge district and that there is an incentive to go after them from the suburbs.

The students living in Thornridge district have lost the motivation in their minds that they can go to the same school where they have come to start college and they must go to school in Thornridge district. And these people who make up the population are not just in Thornridge district but many around the region also. The people who did support Thornridge district would not be in Thornridge district. They already lived here in Thornridge district and they are now part of the community.
