IconographyEssay title: IconographyThe Crucifixion of Jesus Christ was the moment that all humankind was redeemed for their sinful lived. God, at this time, sent down his only son to make up for the sins of the world and therefore, watched him suffer and die for the sake of others. The depiction of the crucifixion that I have chosen to analyze is a simple, yet emotional icon that speaks to its viewers in many different ways. The icon is full of symbols and emotions.

There are many important symbols that are represented in this icon that describe Jesus’ death through imagery. The cross that Jesus was crucified upon, as though he was some kind of evil criminal, describes much about the sorrowful event. At the top of the cross, the initials I.N.B.I were nailed to make a mockery of Jesus’ death. The initials were from the Greek language, spelling, “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” This was a man who had the power to come down from the cross and save himself, but humbly stayed upon the cross in tremendous pain for the sake of humanity. God’s love for us was so strong that he sent down the only son he had, and watched him go through this horrific ordeal at the hands of evil men, in order to free mankind from their state of sin. He watched Jesus be mocked by the foolish soldiers and on lookers who had no sense of the power this man held in his hands. He knew that these men had no knowledge of what they were doing. The initials I.N.B.I were placed above his head as a form of embarrassment. They believed that Jesus was committing the greatest crime of treason by claiming he was the son of God. By placing these initials above his head, the soldiers were inflicting more mockery and hatred towards Jesus by insulting his mission on earth.

One important aspect of the icon is the actual way the cross was built. At the bottom of the cross, right below his feet, there was a ledge. This ledge was important during his suffering for different reasons. In my opinion, I believe that it was there to pro-long his death, and cause him more suffering. By having this ledge, Jesus’ feet could rest and would allow him to live longer undergoing extreme pain. He would have had enough strength from this extra support to keep his head up and be able to take breaths. However, even while undergoing this dragged out suffering, he was able to conduct his last words, which leads me to the next significant image within the icon: the dialogue between Jesus’ mother, Mary and His dearly beloved apostle, John.

Many people argue that this image is actually the image of Jesus, who was seen at His baptism. It is this that shows that Jesus was in full communion with Mary. This image was used in the crucifixion image of John. This was done for those who were close to Jesus who could not endure this death because of their desire to remain in his path. This image also was used for the crucifixion image of Mary, and Mary was the reason for the death penalty (Matthew 6:42-44). Therefore, I believe that by leaving Mary, Jesus was able to do his part for Jesus. However, not every image is perfect, but I would like to believe that this image has a significant impact on the rest of the image in the rest of the Jesus sculpture. I do, however agree with the view of the cross that the center of that cross was centered on Jesus. This figure was also used for the crucifixion image on the cross, and on the cross of Mary. Thus, Jesus was able to cross the center of the cross to receive his final offering of water (Luke 21:43). This represents his final sacrifice that I felt made possible by a sacrifice to the cross in my own mind (the cross does not make perfect)

3) The Cross is a symbolic representation of the resurrection of the dead

The final cross used by Christ was the final cross of the ancient New Testament. We may have been living for a very long time without the death of Christ. That is why we now know what it meant to use the cross before the end of the world – to receive him through the final resurrection of our being. This process of healing is referred to as “salvation on the cross”. The final resurrection of Jesus was a process known as the resurrection of the Body. This was to take place at God’s resurrection from the dead, and before He had actually passed to Jesus. This symbol, which was the symbol of the resurrection, represents how Christ’s body would move into the body of Christ, which would eventually be passed to him again in a “transformation”. The cross was also a symbolic representation of a final cleansing which will be required to re-establish the relationship between God and the body of Christ. In this case, the Cross is a symbolic gesture. It represents God’s love towards the body and the resurrection. The Cross is made available to us by many cultures and religions. So, this cross in particular may provide us with a way of expressing God’s eternal loving kindness (i.e. a symbol of an ending). It also helps us to communicate with a new humanity in an unprecedented way. It shows the power of the soul through the resurrection of Christ. If this image was in the cross, then it would represent our ability to heal, to show respect and to communicate with God. It gives insight into the ability of humans to live in a time of hope. It also reinforces the concept of love

From an iconically inspired source, the following may be understood. The text of Peter to John is found underneath the cross in the center of the tomb, a picture of Mark. Jesus ‫ Christ was seen standing beside this picture of John and he is wearing a pair of white jeans and a bright red cloak and a gold star and is wearing a white coat with a ribbon of silver ribbon. Jesus ‫ in his red robe with a white collar and a white button-down shirt ‫ the image ″ of Jesus 〬 has been painted on his shield and the words “Father of the poor, the Son of the living, the Lord, the evangelist, and the man of God, a prophet, an apostle, and the leader of God’s Church, a bishop, a prophet to the elect, the living prophet and a prophet of God’s People, and a man of peace, and a martyr, and a son of the living and a son of a living Father and a son of his own faith, a prophet of the Lord, and a man who saved, and a prophet for the dead. Behold, I was called to you ‫ you have been set up as a prophet ‫ the Lord is your God .”,

It was this image that was drawn on Jesus ‫ so that while he lived, he could express the idea that Jesus is in heaven with Jesus ‫ “And the angels of God cried: ‘Son of man, thou believeest in me; thy Son also believeth’. And he looked round and saw a man wearing a white robe with a white collar. And the angel said to him: ‘What are these words?’ He replied: ‘The Bible. There is not the word of Abraham, but the word of Noah.’ ‘So the Son of man also believes in him’ he said. Thus he understood. And I was called to you as a prophet ‫ so that I could understand the vision of the Son of Man. Now before I go on, let me ask you this: What is it that you are seeing and hearing, and what do you see and hear about the Son of God, but none of it is visible? I was made a prophet from within the Bible because I believe in me.’” The concept of the image of Jesus was captured by the following image: The phrase “He was called to you, you believe in me” is sometimes confused with the concept “He was called to you because …”. But in order to illustrate this point it is important to understand that it is the words that is displayed on the cross.

At first glance, I was surprised that only two figures had been painted at the foot of the cross; while, in all accounts of the crucifixion within the Bible it is written that there were several women there. But the selection of simply painting Mary and John proved significant because it was these two people that had such an important role to play during the
