Critical Thinking and Ethics: Option ALauren LouvierGEN/201September 14, 2016Dr. La-Kicia Walker-Floyd Critical Thinking and Ethics: Option A        Critical thinking and ethics are two ideals that go hand in hand. Critical thinking can be defined as, an objective line of thought that allows you to make an informed decision. Critical thinking has a few steps. Those steps are, remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating. Each of those steps are very important to critical thinking.         Steps one and two both have to do with the mind. Remembering and understanding go hand and hand, to be able to remember something it must be understood. Step three requires understanding, because if you do not understand the concept it is nearly impossible to apply it. Step four is analyzing, analyzing involves thinking about a concept very carefully. Step five is evaluating, this requires a previous analyzation to even begin to evaluate. The final step would be creating using all the knowledge you have gained from the previous steps to create a new thought.        Critical thinking can be used in many ways, one way to use it would be using it to solve problems. Using critical thinking to solve problems allows for an informed decision. All decisions that are made have consequences. Making informed decisions by thinking critically allows those consequences to be good ones.        In my ethical lens inventory my blind spot was “unrealistic role expectations.’ This is evidenced by how I view my work and coworkers. Now that I am aware of this blind spot, it has become very obvious to me how it affects my thinking. My preferred ethical lens is reputation. This means I am very concerned with mine and others reputations. My ethical lens and blind spot affect my ethics which in turn affects my thinking.
