Benedict Arnold
Benedict Arnold was seduced by his wife to go work for the british. Peggy, who is his wife, was a loyalist to Britain. After he married her I did everything to make their relationship work, because of this he went into debt. The British then convinced him to work for them because of the money they would pay him. That plan didn’t turn out that well. A couple of weeks after Arnold was about to get caught. He made a run for it but he was stopped while trying to get to his boat. After he got caught he wrote a letter to George Washington saying that his wife Peggy Shippen had nothing to do with this, that was a lie. He also explained to Washington that he went to Britain for the love of his country. Therefor explaining that he was a traitor to the Colonies.

“ Arnold was the best general for the Colonies”, (Stanley). That is an opinion, but without Arnold we would have lost the Battle of Saratoga, that wouldn’t have been good. Arnold was a selfish man who only cared about him-self and trying to make his wife happy. His wife manipulated him, what a fool for marrying her. I prove he is selfish because he was paid to switch sides.

We can conclude that he was a traitor because of his selfish ways. He was selfish because he went to the British for the money. He wanted to make his wife happy and not him-self. Also he was a hero, because he won the Battle of Saratoga, but he then went to the British. Therefore it only really comes down to your opinion by if you want to call him a traitor or hero.
