Napoleon was considered one of the greatest and youngest generals of all time.
When he was younger hed been enrolled into a military school – a career choice
that was perfect for him. Napoleon conquered many countries, making himself well
known in Europe. Many people from conquered countries idolized him and eventually
joined his army, making his enemies into allies. By doing that he had accomplished
peace with others nation, such as Russia, and many other European countries.
Napoleon reign over Europe had both negative and positive effects, however it is by bringing
an end to the feudal structure that dominated European society for centuries that he achieved
such an enduring legacy. Making him one of the most greatest generals, because of his
accomplishments.
Although he ended the feudal structure, by enforcing the civil code also known as the
“Napoleonic code”, woman lost rights under this code. Napoleon thought women were
inferior to men, even though they had played a critical role during the French revolution,
his views over women and men were very discriminatory. Napoleon had broken many
promises to Spain and others countries, because he wanted them to stay loyal to him.
He had promised them freedom, power, control over there own countries. He had known
that if he gave them false hope they would be loyal and fight with him to the end, and
that they would do whatever they had to do or there freedom. The broken promises had
made Spain have constant warfare with France, because of Napoleon treachery.
He made many schools, and university for everyone, which made many people very educated,
and because they were educated they could pursue a career of there choice. He had ended
corruption throughout Europe and made peace with many nations. Many of his enemies, had soon
became allies which proved very effective when need of enforcement against other nations.
Napoleon did not write the laws, but made sure that they reflected the kind of society he wanted.
One of his greatest achievements was the civil code, which had given men equality under the law, the
right to hold property, freedom of religion, and the freedom to pursue work of ones choice. Many
Europeans countries still base their laws on this code.
