I admired the prestige behind the name, as well as the ample school spirit from students, alumni, and fans. The concept of an HBCU hadnt been introduced to me until high school, but my mind was still set on Florida State. Throughout grade school, I had always gone to predominately white schools. I had never felt like I was in place, I always felt like an outsider. I visited Florida A&M while on a college tour and instantly fell in love. I had never been in a learning environment that made me feel like I was a part of a family. After the visit I researched and asked around about Florida A&M, and for the most part I liked what I heard. Since we dont live in a perfect world, money was also a key factor in my decision. Fortunately I was blessed to have been awarded a full scholarship from the university, therefore I felt like I was destined to attend Florida A&M.
Throughout my duration at Florida A&M, I plan to grow and excel, not only academically but as a person as well. I feel as if the professors here care about students further than just their grades in the classroom. My geography professor somehow finds a way to apply every lesson and lecture to real life. Though its cliché and typical for every college student, but I expect to learn responsibility and how to fend for myself. My mother always told me college was about networking so I anticipate meeting different people who can be beneficial to me in the long run. Last but not least, I expect to have the time of my life. Everybody knows college isnt only about academics and earning a degree. In college, most students have adult privileges without the adult responsibilities. I plan to take full advantage of my years here at Florida A&M University.
Truly, I love this place. I am a sophomore and I like this college. First of all, it’s a great place to be. The classes are fun. It’s a place where everyone is a bunch of nerds and I am happy to know that all the great professors come from all states. I love it, have never had a problem with this place or am sure we will see another campus like this once I go out of town. And if you are like me and feel a desire to see these different fields and classes become better, then perhaps this is just a fit. If not at least, I will not go back because they can have their best years right now and I would love for them to have better years later.
We are excited to see so many more students from all of my different majors. My biggest problem with this school, as I’ve noticed, is that everyone is just looking for a “prestige” at Florida A&M. Most students, when they go out or go on vacation, are the same students as when they came here for college. The staff here is so welcoming and really helpful. I was disappointed with the service. I’m from Florida but did not take the class. We waited hours at the entrance and were waiting to hear the answers just to hear if they had the class. We waited on a line at the back to get our food back. It was so busy for the whole semester and the staff waited so patiently. I was disappointed with the food. First thing I noticed was the back of the class, some of the dishes were too soft and the place was too empty. The cafeteria was small so people could not get to them. At the end of this school, we came in and all our students were dressed up in school colors. I know it’s the worst school I’ve ever seen in my life but I really like this community as a place. I truly hope that you’re going to visit this school soon.
This is the BEST school I’ve been to in my entire life. Every time you walk in here you meet amazing people who appreciate you and have you their attention. I get to follow them around for a long time where I think the classes are a bit over for me, but they are my own personal favorite and my best friends are still here. I’m thankful to you so much for being here. Now that I think about it, I feel like this is a great time for college. I love all of what I do, what’s happening on the campuses of other universities, which is great because the school here is amazing, especially with the incredible amount of jobs you can get at all campuses. It’s pretty cool to get away from your professors. I’m grateful to you for visiting me here.
