General Job Description
Install, configure, and support an organizations local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system or a segment of a network system. Maintain network hardware and software. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures. Exclude “Computer Support Specialists” (15-1041).

Method of Entry
Occupations at this level generally require a bachelors degree. Completion of the degree program generally requires at least 4 years but not more than 5 years of full-time equivalent academic work.

Use of Advanced Technology
