Speech About Colorado Fbla State officers
Throughout this year the Colorado FBLA State Officers and I are working on encouraging FBLA members to use Social media outlets in order to convey information to members in an efficient manner. This year we hope to have more member involvement in Social media activities, as well as more chapter recognition on FBLA’s social media sites. Throughout the year I will be asking members and advisors that are following our Social Media outlets to submit pictures, quotes or other interesting chapter activities to me. These items will go up on our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter sites. We highly encourage advisors to spread the word about Social media to their students. We also have a YouTube page and a Snapchat. Our YouTube page is mainly used to spread information about State officers and important things going on at the state level whereas our Snapchat is for member entertainment so members can see what is going on at their very own district conference as well as other conferences, and in the future will show the tremendous amount of fun and healthy competition and support for each other at the State leadership conference as well as the National leadership conference. By encouraging your students to follow these pages we will be able to convey important information to you all with ease. Next month we will also be starting our Social Media Challenge. This will be a competition among chapters for VIP seating during opening and closing ceremonies at the State Leadership Conference. There will new questions every day of next month that have to do with FBLA, we would like you as advisors to encourage members to participate in these challenges as it fosters a healthy completion among chapters and increases general knowledge about FBLA.As officers we are also encouraging members to participate more in BAA’s or otherwise known as Business achievement awards. The Business Achievement Awards (BAA) are an aggressive, self-directed, results-based business and leadership program designed to complement academics while accelerating a students leadership skills. The awards focus on the words surrounding the FBLA Crest: Service, Education, and Progress. There is a heavy emphasis on education with classroom projects. The individual recognition is a four-tier program (Future, Business, Leader, and America) aligned with the FBLA-PBL Goals.Future Award focuses on basic business skills, introduction to community service, and FBLA involvement at the local level. Business Award focuses on local and district/regional and state involvement; intermediate business skills; and leadership in the community.Leader Award focuses on local, district/regional, state, and national involvement; advanced business skills; and community leadership. America Award. Focuses on total association leadership, business skills, and involvement in community. Not only are these awards a great way for member to receive recognition for their efforts but it is also a great way to keep student involved in FBLA.
