In many regions of the world, traditional sources and supplies of ground water, rivers and reservoirs, are either inadequate or under threat from ever-increasing demands on water from changes in land use and growing populations. Water supplies frequently come under stress from droughts and increased pollution in rivers, resulting in shortages and an increase in the cost of potable water. Ground water tables have been steadily decreasing in many areas around the world where ground water is one of the primary sources of freshwater. Rain is a vital source of water for many people around the world, particularly farmers. Some areas of the globe suffer long periods of drought that kill crops and lead to horrific famines. One scientific technique that researchers are using to solve the drought crisis is cloud seeding. This has prompted the student to explore how does cloud seeding works, does it really enhance precipitation and the advantages and disadvantages of this method. “Cloud Seeding- An Artificial Rain Making”Cloud seeding is a form of  weather modification that  attempt to change the amount or type of precipitation that falls from clouds by dispersing substances into the air that serve as cloud condensation or ice nuclei which alter the microphysical processes within the cloud. It is a procedure that uses a chemical dispersed into the sky to form rain clouds.  The usual intent is to increase precipitation (rain or snow), but hail and fog suppression are also widely practiced in airports. The primary goal in many experiments concerning cloud seeding is to inject (or seed) a cloud with a small particles that will act as nuclei, so that the cloud particles will grow large enough to fall to the surface as precipitation. The first ingredient in any seeding project is the presence of clouds, as seeding does not generate clouds. However, at least a portion of the cloud must be super cooled because cloud seeding uses ice crystal process to cause the cloud particles to grow. The idea is to find clouds that have too low a ratio of ice crystals to droplets and then to add enough artificial ice nuclei so that the ratio of crystals to droplets is optimal for producing precipitation.
