Blithe Spirit
In the play Blithe Spirit, there were many interesting elements about the characters and their reactions to each other. Elvira and Ruth seemed to have some different and similar qualities, and were each treated by Charles in a little bit different ways. The characters interactions to one another provide examples of what some people are like in general, like the jealousy some hold back.

Ruth and Elvira are similar and different. Both of them fight for their love of what each believe is their rightful husband. Ruth seems to be the more typical housewife type of woman while Elvira seems more carefree (but part of that fact could be because she was dead). Elvira and Charles seemed like once they might have had a deep love for each other, but had gotten broken because of mistakes that they had each made with other people. Ruth and Charles seem to love each other but not in the deepest relationship because each of their first loves had died. Elvira seems to have a mischievous side to her, but I never saw that part of Ruth. Ruth seemed to be one that wanted always to play by the rules and wouldnt dare to rebel. One of the reasons Ruth seemed to be more innocent was because she was more truthful about what she was feeling. Elvira on the other hand, would let her true thoughts and feelings boil inside her until she would decide to blow up at whoever the unlucky one was. Ruth also in the end turned into a ghost like Elvira did.

Charles for the whole time seems to treat them in the same way trying to make each one like one another. Charles to Elvira however doesnt seem to hold back his feelings about her, while he seems to be a little bit more hesitant to speak things to Ruth. Both of them seem to easily manipulate Charles. Charles seems to easily give in to each of his wives needs. For instance, it must take some one very easily manipulated to become smitten for a ghost.

The relationships between characters in this play say a few things about people in general. First off, the interaction between Elvira, Ruth, and Charles show that there is a lot of jealousy hidden beneath the surface of many people. Like in the play at first when Ruth and Charles are lightly bickering about Elvira and how Ruth believes that Charles finds her more physically attractive and better than she is. By the end of the play, Ruths true envy and hatred for Elvira comes out. This example shows the many people that show a twinge of jealousy towards people or things, may actually be stewing a deeper envy inside, that they might not even realize is there. The characters in the play also show that relationships are never perfect and that when it comes to a relationship, honesty is the best way to keep it healthy and happy. The hidden affairs, and jealous feelings and thoughts of the characters stewed until it became chaos.

In conclusion, Blithe spirit was
