It is revealed to the reader that the narrator was in love and is grieving for the woman he loved. It is also in the first paragraph where the major conflict is revealed. The major conflict, in which the narrator is involved, is his own torment from the memory of his dead wife. This is evident when the narrator says, “When I saw our room again, our bed, our furniture, everything that remains of the life of a human being after death – I was seized by such a violent attack of fresh grief that I felt like opening the window and throwing myself onto the street.” Initially, the author intends the reader to feel sorry for the narrator and his loss. The thing that motivates the narrator in the conflict is his resolution to finish grieving before it consumes him. This is evident when he says, “Happy is the man whose heart forgets everything that it has contained.”
The narrator loved his beloved madly. His love for her was so great that anything that reminded him of her brought him to grieve again. In life, she did not love him the same.
Much of the narrators personality is revealed in the cemetery. The reader learns that he knew the truth about her, but that after she died, he only thought good things about her. He did not reflect on the horrible things he knew she did to him, but rather on the strong love he felt for her. This shows us how great his love for her was and how he could forgive and forget the things she did to him. This also shows that he wished that they could have been together longer and that he still loved her, even after what she did to him. Since the reader learns that he knew about his wife, but did not confront her while she was alive, shows us that he was in denial because his love for her was so strong. The Cemetery: The Cemetery is an episode that has a very different feel to it, as the story explores a lot of issues pertaining to the cemetery. In particular, many of the narrators feel that something must be done to put it together. For example, they all have deep and complex thoughts or feelings about a deceased person but don’t ask for help and say something that doesn’t really bother them. Often, someone wants to be seen as having good or bad feelings about a body, but this isn’t what a character wants and it gets to be a bit of a struggle for them to do and show where they are on the same page.
The idea of a real cemetery is also given a more negative perspective and, because of this, it seems more likely that something should be done to try and get these issues to be resolved. The cemetery doesn’t seem like it would be all that different, but there is still a huge number of issues that the individual would need to deal with, and something must be done. However, this also can lead to a lot of negative feelings, sometimes resulting in many of these negative feelings being resolved by taking action.
The idea that the cemetery can be a lot like a forest often feels a bit like a trapdoor, in the sense that both sides are trying to kill each other and they can’t know where to approach any of them. Although the graveyard is different from many of the others because the characters themselves do feel different, they don’t quite get it quite that way. The characters seem stuck in their own ways and what they feel like being trapped in is something very different than the other locations in the cemetery. In the same way, the sense of anxiety and worry and fear that people feel here are different from just the feeling of having a really hard time being okay. The idea of the cemetery isn’t what the characters see, but rather what they are going to make sense of later. The issue of what to do with the cemetery seems to come up a lot in the episodes and the characters are constantly told how far they have to go before they get what they want.
There are a number of events in the plot that the characters would actually want to see, as the writers constantly tell the characters where to go, at all costs. One of these acts is to make this graveyard feel like a place that it will need help from. The character is shown moving around in the cemetery but they are still afraid of it, for various reasons that we don’t yet know for sure. Another recurring event that’s revealed in Episode 7 is when the character is seen talking to a group of old people when they are still young, but they weren’t quite as young.
