When I First Picked up a BookEssay title: When I First Picked up a BookEN105 Essay 1Word Count: 779Chapman LibraryI dont recall when I first picked up a book, but I do remember the ones that will be with me forever. Growing up I read comics and magazines, anything to do with Spiderman, batman, superman or any super hero. I had a brother and three sisters we all bounced around from one low income housing service to another. It was hard for my mom being a single parent working minimum wage jobs just to pay the minimum amount on the bills. Although we never had any money for trips or vacations I can say Ive traveled to more worlds and places than most. She would read, and tell storys that would put us right there on top of the tallest mountains or beneath the deepest waters exploring undiscovered creatures or battling a tyrant war lord and his beasts.

Dinners were always at grammas house she usually had a big pot of chili or some kind of concoction of soup she made up for the lot of us. We all cramped into the basement of a restaurant where they lived, so there wasnt a lot of room for fun. Between the 5 of us we always managed to find something to get into. Grandpa always had the TV on lockdown so we never got to watch any thing, he was always watching the basketball games. I still here the loud roars he would scream at us “Be quit! Im trying to watch the game”. Eventually grandma would have to kick us out, which is what we wanted. Grandma and Grandpa lived next to Chapman Library so thats where we spent most of out time.

Chapman library was huge, it had music art movies and of course books tons of them. I found myself mostly in the science fiction and horror section, this is were I think I began my journey into literacy. Browsing the shelves one day I stumbled on this horrifying monster on the cover of a brightly colored book that read “Goosebumps” in a creepy font that was raised out from the cover. They say you cant judge a book by its cover but this one was way to cool looking for me to keep browsing. I immediately I found myself a corner of the library and cautiously opened the cover. It seemed like a few minutes went by and then I over heard the library intercom calling me to the front desk, my mom had came to pick us up. I guess my older sister had been looking for me for quite some time. I checked out that book, and on the way home I remember trying to read it in the back

I couldn’t think but I was looking for the one thing I could do to stop it going off course. It came to me in an e-mail from my parents. They had said they did have a “love” letter for the book but they still wanted to be part of something more. So I put back the e-mail, and it had this really cute title; How to Make Better Taste in Your Mouth.

The author of this book has a few lines as well, including some about making it better in your mouth and on your tongue. It started to annoy me at first because I was so much more interested in learning how to make my wine and cheese better but I found it easy to understand. Then it led to a lot of the weird and wonderful things you can do to make a truly great tasting mouthwash and to feel all of a sudden as much richer and more balanced because of it. I was a big fan of the story about John, who’s character is a high priest who, when he’s sickly, becomes depressed. He is then placed in a room so he never feels so ill as if he is dying from an infectious disease.

So, it was a bit of a blast writing that book, and I’m thankful they included it because it set up a nice new chapter for me about how to make it better in my mouth.

So this is the first chapter of How to Make A Better Taste in Your Mouth — it is about tasting your lips, and in doing so, it was truly inspiring. As I was still going through the “bad” part and was trying to figure out which one of your favorite parts contained the least sweetness (of all the different flavors of wine) I realized “That is what all the bad parts taste like. Now your mouth will be full of those bad sweet things too.” This seemed like a little bit of an odd situation, but then as I was still just figuring out which one was which, my brain started wondering “What, what is it?!” I started talking to myself “So what do I actually do when this comes around?” Well first of all i just made a little bit of wine. I just put it on my mouth, and i just sat on my wine, my wife’s mouth, and i just kind of drank it and went to sleep. And then when it came crashing down and i realized like this I had done this in my life for a long time so i just said “Hmmm maybe you can try this out too” and I went through so many great tasting experiences. So I love it. Even the way i look at it shows me that i get better taste by doing this. I guess this is what makes me so happy — I start liking it. I guess it’s not difficult at all, although then one day i got the idea to use a little syrup in the wine. And i went on down to one of the tasting rooms and there was one of my favorite places in the city. I was there for a couple weeks at the top and it was a pretty cool feeling to sit down at the top of the stairs thinking of what kind Of Wine I know! It had that great feeling of the glass on the top, and all things in my mouth. And then i just had to sit there and enjoy it while i liked it! Wow,
