After reading chapter 12 and examining the most typical errors committed by individuals when making critical decisions I have determined several errors that have impacted decision making in my lifetime. First off, I have definitely used automatic rejection to counter arguments that are contrary to my beliefs. In high school my parents would try very hard to stop me from underage drinking on the weekends. They cited that while most of my friends were doing it and they didnt really care, the police were out to get teenagers in my town and I could get caught. Immediately I threw out their arguments without considering the potential for one of these parties to get busted, and sure enough, my good friends house was raided by the cops and we were all placed in an underage diversion program. Additionally, I was suspended from my baseball team along with many of the other team members for being caught for underage drinking. In hindsight I should have considered my parents arguments and the risk associated with underage drinking.

Another error that I have committed routinely in my life is changing the subject. As the book states this is a classic way to move around answering a tough question or brushing off a counterpoint that proves your belief or argument. Recently, I had to present a very challenging harvard business case study as part of an interview. I had to put together a powerpoint and present it to a room of employees working for the firm. The case detailed credit history, debt loads, and how a distressed company should act. I was asked several very tough questions that I honestly did not know. I kept trying to change the subject to an earlier point I had proved in my presentation. However, the employees
